Yes, social security and medicare need to be restructured, because the baby boomers are all retiring now. Naturally, our fine folks in Congress (I'm talking about both Republican and Democrats now!) kicked that can down the road until the deficit will become a real crisis, especially if this tax cut scam goes through. This legislation makes the solutions even worse than what we're looking at right now, and I guarantee that some Republicans are eyeing this as an opportunity to kill off social security and medicare altogether. They're going to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and disabled, period. And as they're doing so, they're going to blame it all on something/someone else.

"Kim Jong Un is concerned that his long-standing plan to destroy the United States has been made totally irrelevant by the Republican tax bill."

...

"The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that Kim fears that his scheme to turn the United States into an uninhabitable hellhole has been to a large extent upstaged by a similar proposal from congressional Republicans."

I honestly believe that was exactly the hidden agenda behind the tax cuts. To lay the foundation for future cuts to all the social safety nets. If one looks at what Trump intends to slash from various programs already, just with the next budget, it gives you a reasonable thumbnail on what is to follow in the next 5 years if the republicans are still in charge.
Of course it was. They wont try until 2019 tho. Taking the Senate is nearly impossible for the Dems in 2018. The states in play are far too GOP.

The GOP is going to try to cut Medicare and Social Security and that 1 vote in Alabama could make the difference between you getting $250 less per month for the rest of your life.
Please. Moore is going to win. Many in AL cheer Moore for being booted out of the courts for not realizing difference between judicial duty and personal religious viewpoint. 1/4 of the voters on BOTH sides would vote for a confirmed nun killer child molester who was caught having relations with a goat over someone of the opposed party.

Tax bill could fuel push for Medicare, Social Security cuts | TheHill

Completely predictable because we've done this before and if happens every time with the GOP. Paul Ryan has dreamed of privatizing Medicare since forever.
The lazy and culturally unmotivated should be on notice that the freebies from Uncle Sugar is getting some scrutiny.
They have an opportunity to instill some self-reliance in their childrens.

Hear that, all you senior citizens? Your gravy train is over! Get your 80-year-old butts out there and get a job!

Oh, and then make sure to vote in the next election for the guys who reduced your SS and Medicare down so low that you had to go back to work. Because you've GOT to vote Republican, even as they are strangling the life out of you. Because ABORTION! UNISEX BATHROOMS! GAYS! IMMIGRANTS TAKING YOUR JOBS! WAR ON CHRISTMAS! You know, all that stuff that is really vital to your well-being.

Why should you be able to? You are using it for an investment not your primary residence.

Pure speculation on your part. Social Security Administration has never missed a full monthly payment to a lawful recipient in it's history.
It will only start to default if congress wants it to default.

Fact is, if congress wants it to default they will screw millions and millions of people.
