Does it make sense to have two embassies in a country the size of Rhode Island? We already have an embassy, and building another one does not benefit the US in any way. We need to stop spending money on bridges to nowhere.
Its not like we'd stop using our building in Tel Aviv. No, it would just become a consulate.
I don't think even Israel would want us to cut aid to countries like Egypt
Even if Egypt voted against the US, Their funds would not be cut as it is not USAID. Their funds are related to whatever Carter traded it for in 1979 as part of the Treaty with Israel. Jordan's payment is also not USAID as it too is per a Treaty.
Why should they change their opinion, do they need to vote with the US because we give them aid.
We supported Israel's position, no other country agreed. Doesn't bode well for us being able to broker a peace process but who actually believed this administration was balanced.
This level of bluster is new for a US Ambassador for a situation that has absolutely has nothing to do with the US. How about Nikki Haley talking tough with Myanmar.
They don't need to change their opinions.
Yes, we support Israel's right to name their own capital. Can you name another country who's capital we refuse to recognize? Trump was called an anti-Semite by the left during and after the election, but it's pretty clear who the real anti-Semites are now isn't it?
As for peace, well we've been trying the same things for decades and they don't work. Obama couldn't do it, Bush couldn't do it, Clinton couldn't do it, etc. etc. If doing it this was was going to work, one of those guys would have fixed it by now. Time to try a different approach.
Most importantly, until Palestine acknowledges Israel's right to exist as a nation, how can there ever be peace talks? That's the starting point.
Thank you for missing the point of my post entirely - and thus proving my point.
A leader does not ALWAYS have to vote "yes," "no," or along party lines. That's the point, and Trumpers don't get that. They do not understand concepts such as: Hillary stinks, but Trump is worse. Or, I support Senator XYZ on some issues, but not others. EVERYTHING with them must be slavish loyalty or insane hatred, which is exactly what you expect with petty, tribal world views.
Nailed it. This is also why so many Cult45 members have no sense of humor. Sarcasm goes right over their heads.
Trump isn’t scaring anyone. You folks are too easily impressed.
