I thought Cons hate increasing the deficit.

Trump has the lowest approval rating of any President in history and he is adding to the national debt on top of it. Why do people still support this clown?

Do Cons realize they are handing over power to the Democrats with all this stupidity?

The deficit will not increase. The tax cuts will stimulate economic growth, and thus tax revenue will increase due to economic EXPANSION even with lower tax rates.

I am absolutely amazed watching the types of people, that had zero interest in reducing the deficit previously, decry the current presidents actions in the name of national debt now.

I am absolutely amazed watching these types of people, who decried the previous presidents actions in the name of the national debt, show zero interest in reducing it now.

See how hypocrisy works? Both ways.

Give it up. You're trying to explain a complex topic like economics with people with the intellectual maturity of a 6 year old.

Unfortunately, there are a whole slew of them out there, usually talk radio listeners. And what's really pathetic is that so few of them actually benefit in any way from this policy. I can understand if you have $5M+ in an investment account and live off capital gains..this policy benefits those people no doubt. But that's very few of the people who actually put the GOP in office. I guess they have to keep spewing the party line in order to not feel like the complete dupes and suckers they actually are.

whether the democrats take back congress depends on a lot of things;

1: the tax plan is going to have to not work as intended in pushing the economy forward

2: the democrats are going to have to have more cooperation with republicans this year, to show that they can help get things done

3: the democrats are going to have to get their political campaign message out in a positive manner. they cant just say republicans suck so vote for us.

2018 is a political minefield for both parties, so both parties need to be on their game.

dman is right on the deficit. it swings both ways, usually the party out of power wants to hammer on the deficit and debt as being bad, but when they get into power, suddenly deficits and debt dont matter, or dont matter as much.

Only when we're talking about liberal policies.

When we're talking about conservative policies, they don't *actually* increase the deficit, there's magic involved. You average people wouldn't understand. Dynamic scoring is a complex process that must be handled in secret by the Grand Wizards of the GOP; they cannot simply be left to any old economist.
