Yes. Particularly Jimmy Carter and left-wing journalists (but those were mainly BBC).

The Shah's terrible decisions while his health was failing was the biggest reason though.

it kind of is since we have troops in the middle east and the revolutionary guards are fighting in syria.

If the bedoiun vichy regime led by the mullahs are removed and the persians themselves put in a democractic secular republic, it works out better for the US.

They’re Persians, not Arabs. And it’s not their responsibility to do things that “work out better for the US.

Furthermore, we aren’t supposed to be in Syria or have troops in the Middle East.

Good for Trump to broadcast their struggle, hope he has more covert help in progress.

Internal uprising is our only hope in these countries like Iran and its partner NK.

Strike while the iron is hot! It would be a colossal disaster to not help the Iranian people who are far more aligned with western culture than Iraq ever was.
Yeah, you right wingers are all Middle East experts now after having your Damascus Road conversions in the aftermath of screwing up Iraq!

Obama was exactly right to mind his own business and stay out of Iran’s internal national affairs. If Trump were smart, and he isn’t, he’d keep his mouth shut too.

They'll be lucky if the Orange King doesn't send a few random drone strikes into Iran to kill random "brown people" - they'll be even luckier if the Orange Idiot decides to do nothing since he can't find Iran on a map. So, if you like ISIS being broken, thank Obama and the local military forces in the Middle East - don't start praying to Trump.

The bootlicking among the members of Cult 45 is getting old. Trump has nothing to do with the protests in Iran, nor is Obama the cause for the "death to America!" nonsense from the Iranian leaders. Both go back way before either president was in office, and it is nothing but sheer intellectual dishonesty - a trait now so common on the far-right - to pretend otherwise.
Just when I think I can't see anything dumber from the left...

Your could have said "Hold my beer..."

If it works out better for the US, that's a win.

Obama did not stay out of Libya's business. Look how that turned out. Trump is not going to keep his mouth shut. He needs attention.

Get real.

Obama funded, armed and encouraged ISIS growth. He attempted to us it to further his grand Arab Spring plan, which has turned into a complete disaster.

2 things Trump did totally changed the game there and directly lead to ISIS being demolished.

Obama's team micromanaged from the White house everything the military wanted to do. They placed onerous rules of engagement on them. Delayed permission to carry out time sensitive missions until they were no longer viable. Of course they had to. They didn't really want to damage ISIS. They just wanted to push them into Syria where they were arming them to apply pressure to Assad.

Trump changed that goal by loosening the rules of engagement and turning over the day to day operational decisions to the military, which immediately jumped on it and started concentrating their efforts to hit concentrated pockets of ISIS fighters and leaders.

The second thing is Trump armed the Kurds which Obama refused to do for the same reasons already mentioned.

I guess a third big thing Trump did was stop arming and funding them.

ISIS was no where near crushed when Obama left.

Do you really believe the garbage you post here?

They need to build zohorastrian fire temples at the bedoiun brainwashing centers. Especially right in the heart of Qom.

They also need to start using the Pahlavi script with romanized persian instead of the arabic script.

They should start using the P sound again because there is no P sound in arabic. That is why Farsi is called Farsi instead of Parsi.

Persian women should not be required to cover their head.

If persia becomes zohorastrian or godless, there would be a lot less problems in the middle east. persians would not have a weird obession with israel and they average persian would not care about palestine. Its all because of the mullahs.

It boggles my mind that persia continues to follow the way of bedoiun. Persians are nationalistic and hate arabs. The mullahs suppress the islamic invasions and they destroy preislamic persian sites.

If sassianids did not fall, you would not have ideological social problems in asia like the taliban, pakistan, moros in the phillipines or the shariah. The Battle of Nahāvand was a tragedy for asia.

I think persians should make persia zohorastrian again.
Good post. I hope it plays out (organically) the way you illustrate and the way that you hope for.

But the US should probably not do anything more than offer the encouragement that the State Department is currently offering.

When has American meddling in Middle Eastern affairs ever worked out better for us? I can’t think of an instance. At least not in the last 40 years.

And yeah, Obama didn’t do much of anything positive in the Middle East either.
