So, can we end the right-wing fiction of countless "welfare mommas driving Cadillac cars and having lots of babies cuz it's all free?" That is simply an obvious lie with equally obvious racial overtones. Funny how I never hear anybody complain about the white poor in the endless, rural dumps in red states sucking down the money? Gee, I wonder why...
They don't want any of your FACTS and STATISTICS to tarnish their OPINIONS of Welfare Kings and Queens.
I've both seen and heard of many single moms that keep popping out kids in order to qualify for more govt assistance and I have the perfect solution to that problem. If a single mom comes in and asks for welfare for their kids, in order to get it they have to get their tubes tied, because they have NO business having more children if they can't even support and take care of the ones they have. No tubal ligation, no welfare check! These mothers should not be "rewarded" for popping out another rugrat with a bigger check every month, either get your crap together and improve your life, or if you want help from the govt, get your tubes tied. Simple as that!

Because everyone knows it's only single Mom's on welfare and not any men who take so many drugs they can't pass a pee test to get a job.
Limit all support to single moms to those who identify the father of the child they are claiming support for. Verify via DNA and have the father pay the freight or go to jail. (I am referring to single mothers and not widows).
Limit support to one child. With the second illegal child sterilization or support for the first child ended.
There was a news story not long ago about a single mother of sixteen children within seventeen years. The oldest three were in jail. The remaining ones were gang members jailed many times for drug laws and the youngest group was being groomed by gangs. She was getting a considerable sum for raising criminals. The money of course came from the taxpayers.
No one has kids to get more welfare, the additional tanf cash for one kid averages something like $30 a month.
California had a maximum family grant rule for decades meaning if you had another child after going on welfare you didn't get additional money, they repealed it after they found that it did not discourage people from having more kids it just resulted in more of them living with less money.
Most states require that mom identify the father, or at least cooperate with the State in identifying the father or they will not give the mother benefits if she refuses, it becomes a child only case.
This is not race motivated at all. In the area I live it is over 95% white, so the vast majority of "welfare kings and queens" here are WHITE. I also have no problem with helping people with MEDICAL CARE, so no problems with medicaid. I view medical care as a different subject than just giving people a check every month to do with as they please. Same goes for food stamps, the food you can buy needs to be limited to the cheapest things possible. You shouldn't be able to buy steak and other "high class" type foods when you can't even afford to feed yourself. Those things are a luxury, not a necessity. If you're broke, you need to be eating bologna sandwiches, not a T bone steak!
And no, I have no love for big corporations, and don't believe they deserve special treatment either. Lots of corporations out there that want to pay peanuts, or worse, hire illegals under the table for less than legal wages, and then sit back and whine that "nobody wants to work anymore!" No, they just won't work themselves to death for slave wages like you want them too! You want a better workforce, offer a better job! I believe in holding EVERYONE accountable, both corporate slimeballs and welfare leeches!
They already do eat a lot of cheap, processed foods. That's why so many on food stamps are obese.
My SIL was a MARRIED woman who applied for Welfare 40 years ago when her HUSBAND abandoned her with 4 kids (set of twins) under the age of 6. NYC went after her husband to get child support from. SIL went back to work (waitress) when all her kids were school age. Divorced husband then, who STILL had to pay child support for his Minor children. He made a lot more $$$ than she did.
He should've been punished for child abandonment as well.
I think you need to finally abandon life in the Reagan era and come join the rest of us in the 21st century. The current welfare program is TEMPORARY Aid to Needy Families (TANF). TANF benefits are limited to a life time total of 60 months and include a requirement to perform a set number of hours of work activity per week. There is no "payoff" for a single Mom to add another child to her brood, and out of wedlock pregnancies have been declining.
As someone else mentioned, why don't you include deadbeat dad's in your war against the poor? Studs who father then abandon an out of wedlock child, should be tracked down and snipped for the good of society. It's a cheaper procedure than tying a woman's tubes as well. You could save many tax payer dollars by implementing this simple plan.
The war against America's children has been progressing nicely. Congress has refused to re-authorize the health care program for millions of low income kids. Trump and the Republicans are going to dump 800,000 children and young people who were brought here by their parents. Those kids had no say in the matter and we have spent millions of dollars on their education and training. Rather than keep these highly employable members of the workforce and let them pay back their educational costs by becoming tax payers, we are going to make them walk the plank and end up in some country where they can't even speak the language.
Why not force the children of single parent families into utter destitution, as well? It's the new American way MAGA strikes again.
Prison is where dead beat dad's go that don't pay child support. Adding a financial burden to lock then up feed them guard them etc.
Section 8 is where the dead beat mom's go who can't support hers.
Want to be fair?
Pass a law you can't have kids without meeting common sense guidelines.
If you can not
1. Afford to feed what you breed you don't have kids.
2. Do not have a roof over your head secured by your funds.
3. Can not provide a happy healthy environment. Meaning no violence. No binge drinking/drugging. No abuse.
4. Earn a legal living. If you're running guns, slinging dope, selling shine, stealing, are involved in ANY criminal enterprise detrimental to society.

I work with LOTS of single mothers in this state who get food stamps. 1 coworker with 3 children gets $500 a month. From this chart, it appears that's about right...and allows her to earn over $2K a month. Each additional kid is worth $144 more food stamps.
BTW, she get subsidized housing and free medical care for herself and her children, who actually live with their grandmother and only with their mom every OTHER weekend. All the while talking about her "babydaddy" and giggling that someone is going to get pregnant this year (among the other single moms in our dept). Actions like this make it hard have any sympathy for their situation.

That's absolutely incorrect. The maximum SNAP benefit for a family of 4 is $650. that is with no income. She earns $2,000 a month, assuming her rent for section 8 is $300 that leaves $1700 income. SNAP's requires that you contribute 30% of your own money toward food, so that amount is deducted from the maximum benefit, in her case she would receive $136 monthly, that is the maximum benefit minus 30% of her income.
