What? The Koch brothers care about their own wealth and status, they dont care about the nation.
What good is your wealth if your country turns into something you don’t like? Just because a person who cares about their own wealth does not mean you don’t care about the country.
You and I may be concerned about our country but we also care about our own finances too.
It doesn't matter how well the super rich are living, only how well the everyone else is living. I've yet to see an explanation for why the multi-millonare living down the road, is the cause of the poor criminal druggie living also living on the same road -there is a tendency for some to say it is, but things get a bit vague when one asks for specifics.
As consumers, people have immense power to cause positive change, but only if one acts on principle, and only if enough people act the same -I think too many people don't care enough too cause change
People like Gates, Bezos, Zuckerberg, etc have created huge companies resulting in a lot of wealth for employees, (401k) stock holder and the government (collecting taxes).
Wealth disparity in a society doesn't mean that much so long as everyone has their basic needs taken care of.
When it comes to "world," disparity... again... the third world needs to stop popping kids out like its 1850 again. It is not our responsibility to take care of other people's kids. The governments in these depressed areas of the world need to step up and get their act together for the future of THEIR people. The rest of "Humanity" (the part that doesn't breed like rabbits) will do just fine.
cool story mate, but the US has tens of millions of people living with food and shelter insecurity. and we have more living with healthcare insecurity and even more living with job insecurity.
Frankly much more than half of americans are living in insecurity. Think about that, we have food banks all over! We have massive numbers of underemployed, we have middle aged men working 3 high schooler jobs to make ends meet.
When first returned to the US after a couple of decades abroad i was shocked to see men and women in their early 60s to early 70s working in supermarkets packing bags, stocking shelves. those are jobs for kids.
But the biggest shock was when an employee in a sportswear shop told us she was there for healthcare. We could not believe she had cancer and had to keep working or would be unable to pay for her care.
That was disgusting. I was disgusted to see how my fellow americans had allowed themselves to become an apartheid nation. but instead of the color of skin , it was the color of money that divided the nation.
Eventually it'll push the world towards 1917 Russia sort of reactions to the disparity.
I doubt it. Particularly in western countries where even poor people are fat.
The 1917 Russian revolution was more about a government out of touch with the people than a wealth gap. And the Russian poor were not fat. They were hungry.

Another cool story, mate, but what does that have to do with a wealth gap?
And the result of that being the USSR and as we’ve seen, that didn’t work out very well now did it?
I never said it was desirable to have that happen.
