Sounds like someone is very jealous they clouldn't achieve what others have.
Yep, those, "everybody gets trophy" and no more A, B, C. D, F grades in school, just must pass or fail (which no one does) no competition, etc. means they don't KNOW HOW TO COMPETE and will NEVER succeed to a high level.
Someone else having wealth in no way prevents anyone else from becoming wealthy themselves.
That said, corporatism is giving the politically connected an unfair advantage. Instead of straight-up, honest competition, you have lobbying for regulations, licensing, subsidies, etc. that, surprise, benefit the companies lobbying for them.
It's ironic that people think more state control is needed to make things fair, when it's the exact opposite. It's fair when you don't put up barriers and try to control everything to get a certain outcome. That causes exactly what you're afraid of.

Exactly! Government regulation helps keep the wealth gap growing.
Yeah but if you redistributed all the world's wealth evenly everyone would still be poor.
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity . . . . What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving . . . . The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else . . . .. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation . . . .You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Another cool story, mate, but what does that have to do with a wealth gap?
If you can't figure out the relationship between "wealth gap' and "food insecurity" , well mate that is on you. Maybe you should google it, put a little effort into figuring it out. because without wishing to be rude, this is not rocket surgery.
