Ok, supposedly they'd make more money now by replacing Americans with H1Bs, offshoring, and cutting every corner, and also bringing in illegals. But, it would seem that someday, they are going to have at least two huge problems that will ruin them:
1.) Pretty much everybody would be too poor to afford their stuff.
2.) Even if they could get people to afford their stuff, the quality would be atrocious due to all the "cost saving" stuff they did.
Considering this, and assuming they'd have to know that, why are they doing this? What are they after? What do they hope to achieve other than a boom now and a mighty bust later?
I can solve this one for you. I am a pro-business Republican, and even I will gladly speak the truth.
American businesses only think about the quarter. It is all about showing profit to the shareholders for a three month period.
They will slash salaries and benefits to make their positions uncompetetive. They will slash positions and re-assign the work to the already overworked people left standing to set them up to fail. They will expect people to work off the books and with no compensation. They will sell out their country on the drop of a dime by offshoring and hiring illegals. And they will tell you right to your face that it is for your own good and the good of the company.
Nor do they care what happnes 20 years down the line, as long as the right people get out with the green parachute in time. They may, on some hypothetical level, be thinking about next quarter, but it won't get in the way of making a bad strategic move for this quarter to gain a tactical advantage.
And it isn't that they are ENTIRELY wrong. The company has to make money to survive, and that is a hard bottom line that many, especially libersals, have a hard time understanding. There really isn't an easy answer. But yes, it is sickening to be part of, and the hiring of illegals has to stop all together.
Because companies expect taxpayers to supplement their low wages with benefits, all forms of welfare and health care ,food stamps if need be ,aid for families, schools and public services ,on and on
Even in tech and biotech, the HB1 visa is a joke, they say we cant find enough people, which is bull****. Why arent they pushing better stem education and job training, you never hear about that much. Its all about pleasing wall street.More Silicon Valley tech workers were born outside the US than in it
In my physics classes in college it was probably 80% foreigners , our politicians are pathetic. They dont care about our science and math education for our citizens . Americas most prosperous period , the post war years until around the 1960's , was done with very very little immigration but we had "sputnik" schools like my grandfather graduated from in Texas . We were scared of Soviet advances so we pushed science based education
Business want open borders to increase the supply of workers and the demand for consumption. They don't care about the economic, social, political or cultural burden on Americans over the short and long term.
