I heard government safety nets kill people and are like Hitler or something, not sure, but it's really bad.

The two senators from Alaska voted for the Trump tax plan that will kick millions off health care. There is another thread on health care indicating that removing the mandate takes the pressure off the poor, this is what they wanted. Alaskans are dependent on state subsidies which have gone down with oil prices, this is the Venezuelan model not the Swedish model.

Perfectly stated. When these red states vote to hurt people, they cannot be surprised that people have less sympathy for them. I don't want to see anyone starve ever, but these states have shown they do not care about anyone.

Cons want a Darwinian state. This is what it looks like. Going back to the 19th century. Elections have consequences.

OK

But, As SHTFplan's Mac Slavo notes, higher taxes to fund government programs only force those living paycheck to paycheck to also enter into these very programs, which were supposed to be designed to eliminate hunger. It’s the vicious cycle of a government attempt to fix a problem they started.

THEN

Wonder how much better off Alaskans would be if Obama didnt ban drilling offshore or the arctic.?

Do these people even vote, and if.... what party?

Alaska has a large minority population mostly Native Alaskans many of which work very little at a paid job and live in the far bush with little work opportunity. Add in the druggies and the mother's basement dwellers and you end up with a lot of people that find it easier for you to pay for their food and medicaid.

Trump says drill away no matter what the consequences. And what happens?

"...after hearing from critics who do not want drilling in their home waters, U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan and Rep. Don Young are backtracking.

In a letter Friday to Zinke, the delegation requested that most Alaska waters from the state’s Panhandle to the Bering Strait be removed from the proposed five-year drilling plan."

See, Alaska also fishes and sells a lot of salmon. So the red state of Alaska is where they are by choice and it has nothing to do with Obama. Nice try.

Alaska is shedding jobs like an old dog and predictions are that this will continue for the time being.

"Alaska's gross state product, the total value of all the goods and services we produce, has declined for five years and is down 22 percent due to lower oil prices and production. With that much money subtracted from the economy, it has to shrink, with slower business, fewer jobs and a smaller population."

https://www.adn.com/opinions/2017/01...poorer-alaska/

Alaska has always attracted those who imagine themselves as rugged, self-sufficent, live-off-the-land folks.

Some truly are and they create a sustainable life for themselves.

Others are wildly delusional. A lot of these arrived when the pipeline hit.

During the boom times, these folks can make out all right. During the inevitable busts, they are standing in line for handouts.

Wait-how can this be? We've been told for 8 years what a wonderful job Obama did fixing the "Bush recession". And for the last 15 months the left has been telling us that we're seeing the results of the "Obama economy" and that Trump has done nothing to impact economics?

Listening to the far left flip-flop is so confusing!

So what is it? Is today's economic performance due to GOP policies or Obama?
