A California appeals court has sided with Allan Candelore, a man suing Tinder over the pricing for its premium service, Tinder Plus.
Specifically, Candelore and his lawyers argued that by charging $9.99 per month if a user is under 30, versus $19.99 per month if you’re 30 or older, Tinder is discriminating based on age, in violation of the Unruh Civil Rights Act and the Unfair Competition Law (those are both California laws).
Hmmm. While I think this is a pretty obvious case of younger people being considered more desirable than older ones, and that kind of hurts, I'm not sure it's any different from offering a senior discount at Denny's.
I don't like it, but then again, I'm stuck in the middle - too old to get a deal for being hot, and too young to get a break for being someone's grandma.

Of course you can charge people different prices based on age. Children under 12 get in free, and yes, senior discount at Denny's.
Not to mention auto insurance discounts after you are 25.
Clearly we have a business structure where you can tell people they can't join in if they're not the right age bracket. No people buying homes under 55 in Sun City, this playground for kids up to 5 years old and their parents.
