If they are so concerned for the health and safety of the public, why have they given tobacco a full exemption? Anyone over 18 can go to most any retail location and buy as many cigarettes as they like!
Also notice how aggressive the drug war is, despite who is in office...hmmm?
It doesn’t help treat cancer; it causes cancer. In fact, I recently posted a news article about the father of pot legalization dying of lung cancer. But this topic is about recreational use, so none of the cancer talk is really relevant.
There has been a lot of research proving it helps with cancer, And what business it of yours if someone uses it since it does not hurt anyone. There are NO documented deaths from it, in spite of the lies you have posted before.
NJ governor Phil Murphy wants to legalize pot and many people have been saying that it will be a slam-dunk issue in the blue state of NJ. But what’s this? A new poll shows that most people in NJ do NOT want legal pot. The governor is now facing opposition from Dems in his own party!
I think it will eventually happen, but I’m glad that the good, family, law-abiding people of NJ are not going down without a fight!
It's good that it's being looked at more closely. This is what governing is all about. Not a bunch of yes men following the person at the top potentially over a cliff. If a Governor wants to fulfill campaign promises that's fine but it needs to be hashed out.
So the Feds should be able to dictate on pot but not other important issues? And as far as other countries as an example do you then agree America should have socialized healthcare?
Conservatives use leftist logic on this issue. There's no defending it. Since they personally detest pot and believe the stereotypes and propaganda about it, they think their position is justified. However, they would be screaming loudest if they applied the same logic towards almost any other issue.

Yes because everyones personal freedoms should be hashed out by a few guys in a backroom.
So many people with dirty knees on this thread.
The feds have the power to regulate commerce issues, like selling dangerous drugs. As for other countries, this is a shared proscription like murder, rape, theft, etc. Just because we share good policy criminal laws does not mean we need to follow their economic system.
You have this all wrong. No ones rights have been violated and it's not a good criminal policy. The only reason it's a crime is because a bunch of bigots 80 years ago said it's a crime.

A majority of republicans support decriminalization of weed as well as legalization. barely but they do. Legalize freedom.
"Overall, 64 percent of those reached by Gallup said they support the legalization of marijuana, up 4 percentage points from October 2016.
Of the Republicans reached by Gallup’s poll, 51 percent said they support legalization, a 9-point increase relative to last year. It is the first time that a majority of Republicans have expressed support for marijuana legalization in Gallup polling."
There are too many pharmaceutical companies in the state that would never EVER allow it. Politicians know where their bread is buttered.
Never gonna happen.
It may pass with severe, severe restrictions and regulations that make it impossible for people to get/use it. I could see that happening. So it effectively does nothing except create paperwork and another class of criminals.
