The home improvement retailer is giving more than 260,000 hourly employees bonuses of up to $1,000 and will expand benefits packages — adding adoption assistance and paid parental leave — in the wake of new tax legislation, CNBC reported on Wednesday. The bonus amounts will be based on a worker's length of service.
Hopefully I can find a complete list up companies that gave out bonuses up to this point.
notice that "up to" part? The vast majority arent getting close to that. I've noticed that in a lot of these bonus announcements. I've also noticed layoffs for a lot of them. Im not sure why all the layoffs are occurring though.
There is only one reason companies increase employee welfare; to attract and keep employees.
Honestly this is the most important part. AND....where some credit to Trump is Due. Not this bonus nonsense, or tax stuff.
He had less new jobs then obama did in his last year-but not by much, and that has to be looked at in the context of full employment numbers finally being reached. Once that occurs you start seeing pay and bonuses used to get employees.
Besides the bonus of whatever amount it is, Lowe's is now also going to give 10 weeks payed maternity leave and a $5000 to employees that adopt children to help with adoption expenses.
