This article makes an interesting point and looking back over GDP growth over the course of the 90s, 2000s, and 10s drive the point home. Since the recession began, we have not seen a year with over 3% GDP growth.
Provide proof that an advanced 4th Level Service-driven Economy should grow at rates of 5%.
Since no such Economy has existed historically, you really don't know how fast the economy should be growing. I would suggest that 3% is more or less the limit of GDP growth in such an economy (and I've been right for the last 10 years).
That said, the term “recession” is a bit subjective. The economy appears to be doing pretty good, and to be truthful, I think that it’s been pretty good for years. I’ve always been optimistic about the economy, and anyone with fairly decent marketable skills can find work.
Obama's policies were so destructive to the middle class & small business that 1200 Democrats were voted out of office. The hapless community agitator was a disaster to the economy.
recession ended in July 2009 according to those the government uses to track it. We did have the slowest recovery for the 8 years after it ended.
Recessions end when key indicators stabilize. The worse the recession, the longer the recovery.
Most people did not lose their jobs, their benefits and homes in the Great Recession. Many employers continued to pay bonuses, give raises and match 401k.
Many people managed to prosper during the Great Recession. And not all of them were/ are high income earners.
Obama's policies were so destructive to the middle class & small business that 1200 Democrats were voted out of office. The hapless community agitator was a disaster to the economy.
This speaks for itself.
Says you.
I says the Democratic losses were due to incoherent conservative rage over the Iraq war and the following economic trouble than Obama. The Republicans have always been a lot better at making a mess than figuring out how to fix it after it's made. That's because the ruling impulse of conservatism is to leave everything alone. Don't touch it or you'll break it, even if it's bad.
And your own stubborn resistance to change shows. President Obama was far from being a hapless community agitator. And he was far from a disaster to the economy.
If the first of your charges was true, he would never have been elected twice, and if the second was true, your President would never have crowed about how well the economy is doing.
That Obama was successful without having the advantages of a Democratic Congress to assist him for 6 of his 8 years shows just how unable the Republican party is when it comes to governance. Republicans are excellent at opposition, but they can't create policy to save their hides.
So both are lies that come from your personal denial of bald-faced facts that speak for themselves.
The saddest part of all is the fact that the Republicans were once much better policy makers than the Democrats. Eisenhower was one of our finest ever, much better than Kennedy at creating sound national and international policy, and Nixon was better than Johnson, before he lapsed into complete paranoid mental breakdown. All of them had better Congressional partisans helping each of them out than we have now, too.
And every single one of them considered the needs of the nation over their party first, foremost, and always.

So according to you War = Bad Economy.
So Obama started.
War of choice with Libya
War of choice with Syria
Start new War of choice in Afghanistan and put more troops on the ground there than there ever was in Iraq.
War of choice with Yemen
Bombed 7 Arab countries.
So by your own standard, Obama was horrible with the economy and with starting unnecessary war. Costs were/are staggering.
Obama's economic policies destroyed the Democrat party. This speaks for itself.
