I've always considered myself conservative, certainly on fiscal issues, and somewhat on social issues. However, I have noticed that more and more conservatives will no longer look at actual truth and facts, but double down on misconceptions.

Trump is the liar in Chief, that man lies like it's no tomorrow.
I'm about as conservative as it comes fiscally and a liberal as it comes socially. My hypothesis on your question ties back into religious Christians of the conservative party. The idea of blindly believing in an illogical/irrational story and being while throwing blind faith and money behind it is beyond reason. Hence their susceptibility at believing lies.
This is the thing. If you can believe the earth is 6,000 years old and our entire species and planet is descendant from one man, his family, and two of every animal that stepped off a boat 4,000 years ago, you will believe anything.
Most rational conservatives tend to be libertarian on social issues. It's the far-right religious Dominionists who believe the lies.
I can't help but think about the blind faith that many on the Left had for their champion Hillary.
I wonder if they "drank the koolaide" so to speak or they believed all the polls that said she would win and they simply wanted to get onboard with the "winning team" .
Of course after Trump won there were and still are the so called "resistance" groups and the "Not my President" crowd . Sorry for pointing this out but if you are an American Trump is your president.
There are still other Looney Liberals that lined up to scream at the sky to protest Trump.
I think there is far more evidence that the so called Progressives are the gullible ones that are so much more susceptible to lies then Conservatives.

A name absolutely makes no difference here, Trump is just the king liar and that he is winning by a super big margin. Whatever name you want to hear wont even compare.
But, nobody comes even close to this guy, not by a long country mile. He can tell some whoppers, and with a straight face.
