Trump’s first year was seen as a catastrophe by both Democrats and Republicans in the field of political science. Marked by a nonstop stream of scandals, as well as record-low approval ratings, it was so bad that a survey of scholars has already ranked Trump as the worst president ever.
Are you disagreeing with the facts pointed out in the article, or simply slamming the messenger and venue that published it? The link I provided was an opinion piece backed with facts based on 8 years of Obama's dismal economic track record. The OP's link was based on the opinions of several "experts" after our current president has been in office only one year.
1. We aren't discussing Obama ... it's a bi-partisan scholarly evaluation of Trump's first year compared to ALL other presidencies.
2. ... also with regard to your NewsMax article: look up the meaning of the word “specious” ... then look up “sophistry” ... then look up “standards of investigative journalism” ...
2018 Presidential Rankings by the National Political Science Association
The National Political Science Association is comprised of academics in presidential history and political science. Every few years they ask their membership to rank all American presidents from first to worst. Prior to 2018 survey, the last such survey was conducted in 2014.
Donald Trump was included in the survey and ranks dead last as the worst of the worst, but this is an overwhelming liberal group, so that might be understandable. What’s more interesting to me than the overall number, which can be said to be skewed by liberals, is how the Independent and Republican respondents viewed Trump. The Independents said that Trump ranks as the 43rd of the 44 presidents, surpassing only James Buchanan. The Republican respondents are more charitable, ranking him #40 and ahead of such luminaries as Buchanan, William Henry Harrison, Franklin Pierce and Andrew Johnson. The same Republican scholars that ranked Trump as #40 ranked Barack Obama as #16, which may say as much about the distance of Republican elites from the current Republican base as anything else.
If Hillary had won and she had 3% wage and GDP growth, record high business/consumer confidence and a 25k dow a year later she would have been given the noble prize in economics.
Lol ... and all those trends were set into sharply rising trajectory by ... uh, the previous president.
(Btw for anyone interested: I'm not a democrat ... and most definitely not an HRC lover/defender)
this ranking by the ' presidential scholars' says much more about the biases and agendas of the scholars than it does about the president's job performance.
Do tell. Got analysis? Or just stamping your feet?
Myself and many other independents were willing to give him a chance at the outset. I remember the backlash from the left when he won was immense, and I sat back at laughed at their emotional reaction to this. One year later, I'm not really laughing, and feel immense embarrassment with him antics that seem to be winding back the clock on our reputation as a nation. I think it's pretty fair to say he's been the worst president in my lifetime from public perception standpoint. While the stock market has flourished during his first year, the market has been trending up for quite some time, and I'll bestow credit if this maintains over his presidency.
