There is nothing reasonable about his proposals. It is way too little, way too late, and an indicator that he and the republican establishment are running scared and trying to do as little as possible so they can tell the folks at home, "See? We're 'doing something'".

Smart money is still on the Florida kids. They're gonna win this one.

Yeah, must be why we now have that far better than the ACA healthcare plan he promised multiple times would be in place immediately after he took office, right?

If you are legally responsible for yourself with that should come the full privileges of any other adult. Whatever that age is you should be able to own a gun, drink beer, join the military and vote among other things.

Nah... Bush I lost re-election because the economy went into a recession.

Sensible gun control is definitely the way to go. There are far too many shootings of people in the U.S. compared to other developed nations. I'm not just counting mass shootings.

Agreed. The issue is that the culture in the US has pushed responsibility further and further away from nearly every issue.
With every overprotective and overly soft shift in societal standards throughout the decades, we have effectively pushed the age of maturity up and it is now blurring the lines.

I've used one. Definitely a novelty and not something you would want on a rifle meant for real work.

OP, depends on which Rep runs against him and who runs for the Dem.

Can you imagine a Rep saying I'd done with Trump, he banned bump stocks, I'm voting for Oprah in 2020?

It's never enough. After that shooting in the Florida club there was the push to ban people on the "Do Not fly" list from obtaining a gun. The Republican bill that was endorsed by the NRA would of banned someone on that list from obtaining a gun for 3 days in which time the government would have to obtain a court order to permanently ban them.

The Democrats bill put the burden on the individual to prove they should be able to get a gun which of course is completely unacceptable. It likely would have gone down in flames when the inevitable court challenge was heard.

Stripping someone of their rights even for short time is a pretty big step and the Republican bill may even had difficulty in the courts. With a handful of votes from Democrats it would have passed the Senate, it got 0 votes.
