"Hello there body in front of me, can you please let me know who/what you would like to be identified or called, so I dont run the risk of what/whom you would like to identified as"
Or you could try something like "hi my name is ___________, what's yours?"

When was the last time you HAD to be gender specific when meeting a new person.
I don't walk up to a new guy and say"Hey Mister" -- I say Hi --my name is....
It's not that difficult for the average human being.
For the rest -- keep it simple -- be nice to everyone and just say hi.
I'm running into the issue of how can you tell someone they are an idiot without it being a real insult.
Some people are idiots.....and they should be told. Obviously not enough people tell them but somebody has to -- their family and friends just let them be idiots......somebody needs to let them know.
Then you talk to Pat, not his or her gender. It's simple.
"Hi Pat" Not "Hi man"
"I ran into Pat last week" not "I ran into her last week"
"I wonder if Pat would like to join us for a BBQ" Not "I wonder if he would like to ..."
Is it really difficult for one to say a name instead of a gender if one is confused?
Can someone give me a score card? I thought the latest was to make everyone gender neutral. It seems that many who push for gender neutrality also support gender transformation. He and She are supposed to be things of the past. Colors that previously were supposed to gender specific were also supposed to be a thing of the past? In this modern world can I even ask what gender someone is? For that matter, can I even ask what country they are from with out fear of insulting them
When has any employer asked what gender someone is. Why would that even matter. Your score card should be the best qualified for the job you want to fill.
