When was the last time you HAD to be gender specific when meeting a new person.

I don't walk up to a new guy and say"Hey Mister" -- I say Hi --my name is....

It's not that difficult for the average human being.

For the rest -- keep it simple -- be nice to everyone and just say hi.

I'm running into the issue of how can you tell someone they are an idiot without it being a real insult.

Some people are idiots.....and they should be told. Obviously not enough people tell them but somebody has to -- their family and friends just let them be idiots......somebody needs to let them know.

But if you do -- you risk hurting their feelings.

"Hi Pat" Not "Hi man"
"I ran into Pat last week" not "I ran into her last week"
"I wonder if Pat would like to join us for a BBQ" Not "I wonder if he would like to ..."

Is it really difficult for one to say a name instead of a gender if one is confused?

How about this one.

I am terrible with names, I am sure you must have told me before, and I apologise for forgetting.

What is your name?

Problem solved.

In this modern world can I even ask what gender someone is? For that matter, can I even ask what country they are from with out fear of insulting them
When has any employer asked what gender someone is. Why would that even matter. Your score card should be the best qualified for the job you want to fill.
