Maybe now people will be able to pay down their credit cards if Chinese goods become too expensive. A blessing in disguise. And we can start making a lot of stuff here for a change.

Some of them are still there - sticking it out. The Borgota, for instance.

As a side note, Trump buddy and fellow-con Carl Icahn owns Tropicana and also was in on the Taj bankruptcy and other Con moves. They moved ownership back and forth and did a great job screwing virtually everyone out of money.

If you want just some idea of how "great" Trump's finances are/were, he had to borrow money at 14% for the Taj completion. Of course, he screwed those bondholders also.

My assumption is that much of this was before he found the Russians.
Trump didn't exactly "go broke"
He massaged that debt and found a way to keep solvent
Maybe by helping Russians launder dirty money
And without seeing his tax returns it has been suggested that Trump failed to declare all the ins and outs of those deals...

Ummm, that's not what his quote says, bud.

Quote:
Failure is a big part of a free market's success.
Tariffs and centrally-planned economies prevent poorly-run companies from failing. It allows the State to pick winners and losers.

Quote:
People fail to live up to their potential, or to carry out all their good intentions, in all kinds of economic and political systems. Capitalism makes them pay a price for their failures, while socialism, feudalism, fascism and other systems enable personal failures, especially by those at the top, to be ignored.
Nowhere does he say free market economies are socialist. In fact, he states the complete opposite.

Just because you are a unskilled overpaid retrograde who is basically redundant in this century does not mean I should subsidize your existence. Compete or die.
wow, that's quite "forward thinking" or "futuristic" of you wanting to EXCELL ON THE BACKS OF FOREIGN SLAVE LABOR

Here's a question for you...

In many peoples' opinions, buying locally is extremely important. Let's apply it to say, food.

When you go to the nearest chain grocery store, your produce and meat almost certainly come from other countries, or at least Florida and California. At the same time, you can go to Whole Foods, a local farmers' market, or even local farms to get locally-grown organic produce and meat; the caveat is that it costs at least double what the industrial factory-farm meat and produce costs. Which would you buy?

If you buy the cheapest meat and foreign-grown produce, you're a hypocrite.

I personally try to buy as much food grown locally here in Colorado as I can, no matter the cost. I am a member of a CSA for meat and hit up farmers' markets as often as I can. I also try to buy only CO-grown produce at Whole Foods, the only exceptions things that aren't grown here.

See where I'm coming from?

I drive a Mazda 3. 100% Japanese-made with 100% Japanese parts.

Show me a sporty, fun to drive domestic 4-door hatchback that is available with a stick shift and I'd consider it.

Scratch that...I don't buy things made with union labor.

Free-market agreements ≠ free-market economy.

"Agreements" are designed by and benefit the State. They are in no way free market.
