Now don't get me wrong, I understand there is a limit and there should be a punishment, and I do think it depends just on how much older the person in question is, but many times it seems as if an adult having sex with someone that's 16-17 is viewed just as bad as if they were having sex with a 6 or 7 year old.
Now this goes for both men and women. If, say, a 25 year old male or female is caught having had sex with a 16-17 year old, while they should be punished do you really think that should mean the offender deserves to spend decades in prison?
Yes. It is for the same reasons that you can't enter into a contract with someone below age. You are taking advantage of their naivety. A much older adult (going by the title and assuming this is what the OP means because they are on my ignore list) IMO has no business taking advantage of someone much younger.
Beside that, my personal code says that as an older (and/or supposedly wiser) person, you don't introduce younger or inexperienced people to dangerous or potentially harmful activities. I wouldn't introduce anyone who has not experienced it to drinking, or to gambling because I wouldn't want to be the one who did it if they become addicted.
One of our friends have three daughters. When one of them was 16, she met a guy in his mid 20’s who pursued her. She thought he loved her and he took her virginity. Right after he slept with her, he dumped her. Just another conquest. She tried to commit suicide.
Girls that age are often not mature enough to handle the predators that seek them out. They didn’t pursue any action against him because they didn’t want to put their daughter through anymore trauma.
These are predators. I don’t think the laws are strong enough to deal with these pedophiles. They belong in prison.
If A and B have sex on 12/31/17 at 23:59 Person A is a felon. If they have sex on 1/1/18 at 00:00, they're not a felon...how exactly does that make any kind of sense? A little contrived? Sure, but that's exactly what the rest of you are saying you want. There MUST be some kind of age differential factor in determining things like this.
16 and 17 years old is legal in some states as well as 18 years old in many others. I don't care if it is legal it's creepy for a man of a certain age to engage in sexual contact with a girl that young.
