Yeah, I'd say if we are going with the high school football analogy, he didn't throw the touchdown pass, but maybe the team managed to win it with a field goal. However, he has of course created his own reality and tells people he threw the game winning pass. He's repeated the same false story so many times, he could probably take a lie detector test and pass while telling this lie.
