Some can be helped. I know people that have been homeless, and turned around their lives by AA, religion, and other means. They are not all losers, but addiction is a problem, as is mental illness. Both can often be addressed successfully.

Most homeless people need help in the mental department, first and foremost. Because you cant help someone that doesn't want to help themselves.
