while we are cherry picking cities, lets cherry pick some more rust belt cities to be fair.
cost of living are huge issues in San Jose and Seattle, like much of the liberal west coast and NE.
You just punched a hole in your own argument. Detroit is a RUST BELT city. Seattle, San Jose, Denver, are not Rust Belt cities. When the economy went belly-up in many areas, those who could work went elsewhere. Many who couldn't do better stayed. Obviously, home values and home prices drop.
Seattle, San Jose, other West/West Coast cities, they attract many people, particularly because of the tech industry. Alot of people actually want to move to Denver. There is a reason the cost of living in those cities are very high. Alot of people want to move to those cities. And thanks to the geography of the West Coast, not as much land to work with, therefore, that makes the price surge. Tech industry in combination with a high demand for the west coast and not alot of room equals high prices for rent. Contrast this with alot of Rust Belt cities that are losing alot of people and there is alot more room to expand.
You cannot blame Democrats for that. Accusing me for cherry picking only says you can't refute me, but you don't like what I had to say.
Powerful video, its sad to see the once beautiful buildings and churches (and only) 40-50 years later destroyed and smashed to pieces . That was destroyed purposefully from within.
What kind of people destroys their own cities buildings like that?
Those questioning Donald Trump yes he should be trying to help revive Detroit but what the heck did Barack Obama do for them? or the previous five presidents they all had a responsibility to help.
Folks, thought I heard every excuse in the book but this takes the cake.
Detroit has been on the ropes under liberal rule for 40 years, and this numb nut says blame the GOP?
fool
Name five cities under liberal management of over 2M that are in good shape.
There aren't even 5 cities in America in general with populations over 2 million people. Anyway, we were talking about Detroit vs other large cities. Does it only count if the city has over 2 million people?
The Detroit metro area has and will benefit from Trump, but probably not the City of Detroit proper. There is only one car factory in the city proper (GM Poletown plant). The factories moved out to modern facilities out in the suburbs and to other cities and countries. The Poletown plant was built in the 80’s and is an anomaly, the last attempt to breath automobile manufacturing life into an already dying city.
But the greater Detroit area, home to many Trump voters, will definitely see an improvement if as Trump’s policies are implemented.
Chrysler Jefferson is still on the East Side, and Ford Rouge is still partially in Detroit with sections of it being in Dearborn.
Moreover, Poletown is partially in Detroit and in Hamtramck. Chrysler was in that EXACT same spot 2 years before Cadillac opened up the new plant.
LMAO...talking like you know about Detroit! You don’t know anything!!
The suburbs have lost a ton of plants too. Wixom closed, Ypsi closed, American Axle Poletown closed, Ford Glass in Monroe closed, GM Pontiac closed, Ford Willow Run closed, Volkswagen Sterling Heights closed...so let’s not act like the suburbs fared any better.

1. There are only 4 cities in the US with over 2 million residents , New York, Los Angeles , Chicago, Houston
All of which are financially sound
2. Detroit is in Michigan , a state that had been mostly controlled by the GOP for the last 40 years . It's hard to make an argument that a strong governor state like Michigan had no influence over the state of it's largest city and cultural/ economic heart.
Detroit, like much of Michigan and the Rust Belt didn't diversify it's economic portfolia , that's why it fell off the way it did . That's not a Dem or GOP problem, it's a human one.
This is what neo-liberal policies alongside democrat identity politics, and unfettered criminal/corporate control of a city does.
You'll never see a Republican run city deteriorate to that point.
