I'm just waiting for the usual suspects from the left to tell us it is society's fault, and the officer should have just given him a hug.

You know, it takes a village, etc.

The officer should have sustained a few blows from the metal pipe to allow for time to see if the “kid” may have a mental disorder.

Also shooting his shoulder was uncalled for, the officer could’ve easily shot a fingernail or such to avoid any major harm to the pipe-wielding “kid”

What an idiot. I guess he never learned that you don't bring a pipe to a gun fight...

It sounds like he will live and then he should be charged and ordered to pay for the windows he smashed and pay for the bullet that cop had to shoot him with.

I wonder how many people will jump in and say that he was only shot once in the shoulder because he was white BUT if he was black the cops would have emptied their guns on him.

I wonder if the idiot will come out and say that he was protesting something to do with Trump and the college won't press charges because they don't want to discourage other kids from lashing out with their frustrations....

The man who was shot was apparently bipolar. I've seen some of the video, and his actions were really troubling. I don't know if anyone could tell it was a pipe in person, but in the moment, I would have thought he was wielding a gun. But it's not something that anyone should clap their hands about like a child getting a birthday balloon. It's sad, it's tragic, for the family of the man who was shot, for those who witnessed it, and for anyone in law enforcement who had to confront him. It can be both justified and tragic.

My only issue is why not a taser first?

At no point did the man place a second hand on the pipe, nor did he raise it above his waist. That was an unacceptable use of force.

Or try to grab him. I always hear about how cops risk their lives, but it seems like they refuse to take any level of risk.
