It's not spin. People who have not been convicted of (or in many cases, even charged with) a crime, are being forced into unpaid labor or paid less than minimum wage.
I agree, this practice is quite questionable, and the courts need to sort it out.
That doesn't change the fact that the timing, and the reason for this article is blatantly obvious.

Yes, there is going to need to be more facilities opened to house all these illegals being held until their trials.
2. Detainees shall be able to volunteer for work
assignments but otherwise shall not be required
to work, except to do personal housekeeping.
K. Compensation
Detainees shall receive monetary compensation for
work completed in accordance with the facility’s
standard policy. The compensation is at least $1.00 (USD) per day.
The facility shall have an established system that
ensures detainees receive the pay owed them before
being transferred or released.
Deplorables unsurprisingly NOT outraged by modern-day slavery
I voted for Trump, I more often than not disagree with the democratic party especially liberal policy but on this I disagree with private prison being allowed, it creates quotas for filling cells for profit, and I disagree with forced labor for illegal immigrants.

A) The voluntary work program is not slavery, but it does violate the federal minimum wage laws. Tying that to Obama isn’t going to make that any better.
B) Forcing 6 detainees, each day, to clean the common areas is not in the manual, and IS slavery
Those who are paid for labor receive $1 a day, which violates minimum wage laws. These detainees are not convicted criminals, and many of them are eventually released, after their immigration hearings.
Do we pay American criminals in jail or prison to do any jobs their assigned to? Besides, what are these illegal alien's complaints since they allow themselves to be treated like slave out in our society anyway?

Obviously, Obama's ICE thought differently on the wage issue... we'll now have to wait to see what the courts say.
Edit: I'm gonna guess they dismiss against GEO and recommend refiling against the federal government.

I’m going to repeat it slowly, for those who don’t get it.
