As the Bush years draw to a close, we can now safely reflect on his administration. So I would like to pose this question, do you feel U.S.A. is in a better moral position than it was 8 years ago? Do you feel "family values," are being upheld more?

I ask because the fight to bring back a sense of morality is what drove the Bush campaign in a lot of ways, and what drove much of middle america to vote for him twice. What are your thoughts?

"family values"? Being upheld? Bring back A sense of morality?

The only thing I've seen rought back and upheld is a belief that gun-boat diplomacy and saber rattling can substitute for statesmanship and leadership. More expected from a 'Banana Republic' than the US of A.

I feel a more immoral administration has not been in office in my lifetime.
Talk is cheap... they talked a lot about "morality and honor" etc. but they didn't act accordingly.

Middle America primarily voted for Bush mainly because he was against abortion and same sex marriage. But they sure got cheated because abortion hasn't been banned and no amendent defining what marriage means has mean added to the constitution. Other moral issues that concern Middle America, such as porn and gambling, have been totally ignored by the Bush administration. Yet, this November the same people will be voting like dummies again and will vote for McVain because as a Republican he will be perceived as better on moral issues than Clinton or Obama.

I don't think most people expected abortion to be banned or an amendment about marriage, or a bunch of laws about pornography. The people on the far right may have, but that's not the majority. People that voted for moral reasons tend to be more concerned about slowing or stopping a move farther left than a bunch of new laws. Laws are in place already. The movement of society happens when the boundaries of the laws and the grey areas are tested in court. I think those people are probably pretty happy with Roberts and Alito.

Look at the mortgage debacle. Morality certainly ruled in that realm, right?

So true. The corruption and greed has been the most immorality we have ever seen.

Default So is the US a more moral country after 8 years of Bush?

That's a very amusing concept!
