Not as unequal and poverty ridden as Mumbai or Sao Paolo, yet. Hooray for California!

"Quality of Life" is subjective, isn't it?

Trump likes to brag about GDP growth and low unemployment -- he can't do it without California's contribution. And then nearly every day somebody (usually an out-of-stater) will post something anti-California bleating about poverty rates, homeless, or junkies in the downtown L.A. or S.F., making it sound like the whole state is bad. It isn't.

California: No. 5 economy in the whole world. Americans in all 50 states should be saying "job well done" as a matter of national pride, not trashing us.
"So Stop Trashing Us"

"If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen", as they say

"as a matter of national pride, not trashing us."

CA is KNOWN for a LOT of bad things.

Yep, great place indeed.

More than one-quarter of the total homeless population nationwide lives in California, roughly 114,000.
Quote:
The vast majority are “unsheltered†— a more bureaucratic term to describe the thousands living on the streets, under freeways and tucked into grassy fields and parks in cities all around the state.

About 1.6 million households are considered to be living in “worse scenarios,†Mr. Metcalf said, living with low-wages and spending more than half of their income on housing. That number has ballooned continuously through much of the last decade, while wages have remained flat.

There is grim evidence at county morgues, too — because of a significant hepatitis A outbreak and because the homeless population is aging, several cities have seen a dramatic rise in the number of people who die homeless. In Santa Clara County, the number of homeless deaths have more than doubled since 2011, with 132 people dying on the street last year.

What business leaders really mean is that the state and local governments are annoying them with regulations and fees. That's true.

Stories about businesses leaving are exaggerated. Business creation and venture capital are underreported. California is No. 1 in the nation for manufacturing. Also underreported is that Mexico's fastest growing state is Baja and how NAFTA is booming there and here, with expanding cross-border trade going in both directions across the border.

Homelessness, the housing shortage, the massive traffic jams, the high cost of living are all symptoms of the massive economic success. This isn't unique to California, it's the leading edge of a global problem where automation, high tech and robotics make companies very productive without needing much in the way of unskilled labor.
No it's not. NYS ranked high on the business unfriendly list and is the next most productive state after Cali. Yet business and people are leaving more and more every year. Wall Street and NYC tax revenue drives the state.

Every year that number increases because of the debt obligation.

What's the gdp per capita? Makes a big difference. It's telling if you're house poor, big beautiful house, can't afford to furnish it or put food on the table.

I love living in what you call a “flyover state”. I am surrounded by East Tennessee’s lush green mountains every day. Yes it rains, I love the smell and sound of a summer rain, even the crackle and free light show from a thunder storm. The great smoky mountain national park is so green and lush it’s sometimes called a rain forest, the variety of plants and animals is amazing. All that water and mountains make for great waterfalls too. Humidity? Yea if it’s humid and hot (as it often is in the South) that’s a good excuse to sit on the covered porch and have a sweet tea.

You could not pay me to live in California. You can keep your so called perfect weather. You can keep the weirdos too, drugs, crime and liberal freaks. How’s the traffic? Had any fires or earthquakes lately? Half your state is a burnt desert, mine on the other hand is a garden.

California if y’all want the rest of America to stop cutting you down then stop telling us what is and is not politically correct, stop trying to brainwash our children through the movies and tv you control, stop telling us what to eat. We don’t share your values....leave us alone and we will leave you alone. Posts like the one I responded too don’t help either. Much of the rest of America is just as nice or nicer than the so called paradise on the left coast.
