It was over sleeping in the common area, not being black in it. Don't know if there's a rule against napping in there.

Then we get to this...

Reaffirms the student taking issue with the black kid sleeping in the common area.

If it's a rule the girl should have went to the RA and reported the sleeping student. Confronting her was not wise.

The student who called the cops handled it badly but this much I can guarantee you having worked on a college campus in terms of security: if a campus police officer asks you to produce an ID you have to do it as you CONSENTED to those terms as part of your admissions.

Yeah, it didn't seem like she was questioning whether or not she was a student. But what an idiot - who cares if someone falls asleep in a common area?

Suspend her for playing Gladys Kravitz? Laughable.

I’ll be darned if I am an Ivy League grad student being harassed in my own dorm by jealous people who likely went to community college if any college at all. Glad the young lady made this public.
We all have our standards about what makes us "jealous." Put-upon "victims" who can't wait to record a non-incident--and elites--don't do it for me.

I can't stand hags like that. She's going to grow up to be that soccer mom driving a mini van, and saying, "Let me speak to your manager" every time something trivial happens because her life is that boring. The smirk on her face when she put up the phone to record the student recording her is the look that those types of people wear almost non stop.

I don't know if it was racism or just that she's "one of those" people who turns every tiny thing into an overblown drama.

While I don't think she should be expelled, I would secretly be happy that she was because I really, really cannot stand those types of people.

She reminds me of a woman that came to a school board meeting to complain that a teacher had mentioned taking aspirin every day as a blood thinner. She said, "Drugs are a problem with our youth and no teacher should be encouraging drug use of any kind because it sets a bad example."

My late great mother used to call women like this "Mrs. Buttinski"....lol.

If someone had done that to me when I was catching a few zzzs between classes in the student union I would have had choice words for her and told her to mind her own effing business.

If the student looked like a bum and didn't belong in the dorm, the campus police should have been called. Nonstory. Students pay good money to live in the dorms. Having a freeloader would be unfair to them..

She didn't look like a bum, nor did she look like she was in her 30's. There was no reason for this to happen.

The entire thing is a non-story, only making the news because it was a white-black thing, if it was two people of the same race, it would not even been in the student news.

She did not look like a bum at all, it was clear she was doing a student activity, and the person calling is probably one of those wonderful people we like having as a neighbor and as a customer, lol.

But it is a fact freeloading in the dorms is an issue, more or less depending on the campus, and in the era of heightened security and awareness at schools, the police did do the correct thing, and I have no idea why people are criticizing them other than "we hate police" mantra.

Sure as hell though if the police did not check the ID, or even show up, and this person went on a shooting rampage, I am sure they would have been screaming "the police should have come and check the person and ID."

I dont understand why the cops even responded. Is sleeping in the wrong room a crime? It is like asking the police to force a student to make their bed and they actually show up to do it.
