If they are getting unemployment it is most likely because they got laid off and not fired. I believe they should get unemployment up until they find a job or they reach the maximum number of weeks.
Is this something you want to be proposed? Do you want employers to report back to the unemployment office that they didn't hire John Doe because he failed his drug test?
There are plenty of places to get a job without having to pass a drug test.
There are plenty of ways to pass said drug tests anyway, if you want the job bad enough.
I think the poll is based on a invalid premise.
Agree, and isn't it basically required that you are NOT fired/let go for cause in order to collect unemployment? Meaning the premise is that someone lost their job because they were too high to work or show up, would mean they were fired with cause?
...if you can’t get a job because you can’t pass a drug test?
There are many reasons why a person cannot get a job, so I guess no unemployment for everyone?

This is dumb. I haven’t had to submit to a drug test since the year 2000. I don’t know a single person who gets drug-tested. Besides, how would you go about finding out who smokes marijuana? You would spend more money testing people than you would save by eliminating the smokers.
