I have never had to take a drug test and have been working for 20 years. What kinds of jobs do people have where they are getting tested? I guess I am in the right occupation or industry to avoid this nonsense.

Can't you just quit for a couple weeks and be good to go? It is not like quitting weed causes serious withdrawal symptoms. I know people that have used fake urine to beat the tests. If someone comes up with a pill or drink that can clean you out overnight, they would make major cash.

There are plenty of ways to pass said drug tests anyway, if you want the job bad enough.

I think the poll is based on a invalid premise.

The fact the poll is being presented the way it is shows how ingrained the bias is that society holds against the plant and it's users. It's so bad that state-level legislation has been introduced to fight it:

New bill would prohibit employers from firing workers based solely on positive marijuana tests - Boulder Weekly

Federal legislation has also been introduced to fight this, but I don't think there are any current bills. But it's just a matter of time.

I actually was drug tested 13 years ago for my current job. I work for one the premium movie channels which is kind funny because I work around a lot of creative types who use pot on a regular basis. They stopped testing a few years back.

If they don't test for alcohol, I don't see why they should test for pot. Especially in states where recreational marijuana has been legalized.

What if the person is laid off in a state where cannabis is legal. On what grounds would testing for cannabis have anything to do with collecting unemployment?

I think it takes between two weeks in a month to get it out of your system, depending on your body fat. The only time and I got drug tested was in the army. I think certain government jobs drug test, and a lot of low-paying, unskilled jobs have an initial drug test.

I get tested. I haven't in a good while but they can at any time.

This is getting tricky for companies to deny employment over pot because either recreational or medical pot is legal in many states, with new states passing laws each year. I think proof of marijuana use can stay in the body for several weeks, possibly a couple months. If someone went to Colorado 3 weeks ago and had a pot brownie, would a future employer turn them down due to failing the drug test.

Pretty soon companies will be forced to remove pot from the tests, as more states make it legal. It's like telling someone they aren't getting hired because they had a Bud Light 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night.
