Very interesting article and yet so many in the politics section on this board continue to argue for more power to the wealthy more tax cuts fewer regulations. Its almost as if the natural state of lightly regulated capitalism is a return to feudalism.

Box TV sets can pretty much be had for free, second hand these days. Second hand flat screens can be found for less than $100. So this really proves nothing.
Fwiw, we only have 1 TV set.

Very basic "off brand" smart phones can be purchased new for as little as $25 online. Many carriers offer payment plans for brand name (but not high end) smart phones for as little as $5/month when purchased with an accompanying plan. So again, it does not prove excess.
My husband and I purchase our phones on payment plans but then keep them for years, until they die beyond repair.

The working class are people who primarily don't own private property or receive income from anything other than a paycheck. They are the majority Doctors are part of a small privileged class and are certainly not working class. Nice try trying to change the definitions though.
Yea its just so simple why can't homeless people just buy houses? This is the thing that really annoys me about right wing ideology it is so overly simplistic and patronizing. There are a finite number of high paying jobs not everyone can be a programmer or doctor or lawyer this is why its important for things like labor unions to exist to prevent the working class from becoming completely destitute.
