Oh great. Can't get the Peace Prize so he's going the war route. Well, he hired Bolton and that is likely where we are heading. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/whi...l_nbn_20180524

Trump said the U.S. military “is ready if necessary" to respond to any "foolish or reckless act" by North Korea after the cancellation was announced.

"I've spoken to General Mattis and the Joint Chiefs of Staff and our military, which is by far the most powerful anywhere in the world that has been greatly enhanced recently, as you all know, is ready if necessary," he said.

trump Threatens Military Action Against North Korea

The guy has shot his wad. Trump has given crazy Mr. Kim recognition on the world stage, which reinforces his grip on the oppressed Koreans.

Kim - 1
Trump - 0

Turns out that doing your victory lap in the media before you actually secure the deal hands the initiative to the other guy. Man, if only someone could give Trump a few pointers on deal-making - perhaps a book or something.

The Art of the Deal is to scuttle the closest opportunity the world has had to cure the North Korea problem. This they call 4D chess.

The thing is, Trump supporters see this as winning. There's literally nothing Trump supporters can do that isn't winning as long as he continues to spite the people they hate.

They tried to blame Moon and now they're blaming Kim. They've put out reports that Moon made up the claim North Korea was going to give up its nuclear warheads. The reasoning is that Trump scared the hell out of South Korea and Moon with his threats of war since they're not used to unstable rhetoric from the US. Both the China and North Korea situations appear to be cases where the US government and the media attempted to paint the other side into a corner by planting false stories about their positions in the negotiations. China never stated it would reduce the deficit by 200 billion dollars in 2 years which is infeasible. North Korea never stated it would give up its stockpile of nuclear warheads. It is a very amateurish negotiating tactic on the part of the US.

Trump managed to do two things that the North Koreans had been waiting decades for.

Kim was invited to participate in talks as a peer with POTUS and other world leaders. That is YUUUUUGE!!!! as Trump would say. Three generations of Kim's family tried to get the US to agree to face to face talks and had been rebuffed by both Dem and GOP admins. Kim had Trump at hello.

Kim also made the US look like the aggressive warmonger in this situation. After years of threats and insults, a peace summit was going to happen until Trump hires Bolton and they start talking about 'doing a Libya' to Kim. Kim has somehow managed to look like the more rational and sane person trying to protect his country and the region from the actions of lunatics like Bolton and Trump that have threatened to launch pre-emptive nuclear strikes.

And the problem is?

Do you really expect third world dictators to give up their nuclear arsenals if we don't back our demands by force, if necessary?

"Give up your nukes now, but we promise never to harm you if you choose not to give them up."
