Surveillance, logistics and other things like that. The military can bring a large amount resources to the table and this can be excellent real world training opportunity for many types of military operations.

Let's get e-verify working.

I agree -- make every level of govt and private citizens and corporations responsible.

For years now governments, corporations and voters have tolerated the hiring of residents with no legal status.

That's what created the problem in the first place.

Shut that down and then address the residents that don't have legal status, are known to the govt. and who have been allowed to stay with periodic check ins. Put them in the system if they are working, having families -- all the regular conditions of immigration.

If you are so worried about illegals, just make a law that every legal US citizen mush have a finger print, retinal scan on file and an e-chip-id embedded in their skull. This e-chip-id must be use for every purchase, every pay check and every border crossing, including states. Anyone that does not have this, must be illegal and can be arrested. Problem solved.

As crazy as it may sound, I bet there are actually many people out there today that believe this would be a good thing to do!!

Seems everyone understands that this is the main answer...........except for the politicians and those who refuse to hold them accountable for their lies.

Since you're saying the head of the Border Patrol Union knows what's best, he also thinks the wall is needed and would be very effective.

Okay -- but one comment -- about the troops not doing anything and not being effective is reality. Is what is happening today. That doesn't mean we have to support this guy's wall opinon.

Today -- while doing their jobs -- his union members are saying the guards aren't doing anything -- they are no help.

That's all that needs to be fixed.

It means if you are sending troops down there -- make sure it is to do something not just a show.

I agree, but that's really beyond the scope of Trump to do because of the Posse Commitatus Act. He can send troops there to act in a support role but they cannot actively enforce the law. It's largely symbolic - sending a message.
