There is no evidence that Ivanka Trump’s contact with the athlete — the former Olympic weightlifter Dmitry Klokov — was illegal or that it had anything to do with the election. Nor is it clear that Klokov could even have introduced Trump to the Russian president.
Why would Ivanka need to meet with a Russian athlete to try and setup a meeting between her dad and Putin??

In 2016 Trump was well on his way to becoming the Rep candidate and possible President. Why would he need a go between in his daughter and this Russian guy to talk to Putin?
