Shared hobbies don't really indicate that someone thinks like you. "Thinking like" someone is more borne out in social instinct and habits. As a general rule, in my experience, that's most closely associated with genetic association. There are exceptions though they are usually somewhat imperfect exceptions. In my experience.

I would not want to live among people completely unlike me. That's been my experience for a lot of my life. There is an enjoyment to an ethnic community. However, as long as you are polite (in a community sense) and mow your lawn then we are generally good.

I like diversity. I learn more from people who are not just like me and have different stories and experiences to share. I don’t care what color you are, what your background is, how much money you have or how old you are... I’ll be friends with any human being.

Well, all things considered, life would probably be a lot more peaceful if people who looked the same stuck with each other. As in, stay in their own neighborhoods, have relationships within the same race, etc. Since I feel that is the focus of this thread rather than diverse people sharing similar interests.

The unfortunate fact of life is, most people in this world are not like me. That is, someone that's been raised since childhood to respect others regardless of race/ethnicity/nationality, whatever. Someone that feels more comfortable being in an environment that has a mixture of different races/cultures. That is why growing up and continuing through my life, who I hung out was never determined by physical appearance but whether we shared liked minded interests and had compatible personalities.

But like I said, the rest of the world is not like me. This is why you see people throughout society self segregate themselves into their own comfort zones. Look at how students segregate into their own races at school. Look at how people tend to move into neighborhoods that are their same race; many cities in America are quite noticeable in how each race/ethnicity seems to isolate themselves among themselves. Look at the social groups people hang out with throughout their lives, it tends to be mostly of the same race. If you ask these people if they are racist, I'm sure many will deny it.

Yet...they still automatically self segregate without even thinking about it.

I'm a black atheist conservative veteran, hardly anyone is likeminded like me

I simply want to live near people who:
1. Don't commit crime
2. Don't litter or trash their own community
3. Blame others for their failures in life

Luckily, that limits my preferable neighborhood down pretty well.

If I have to be around people I would rather they be like-minded. Could not care less what color or ethnicity you are.

People can say what they like, but living patterns show that most people want to live near people who look like themselves. And white liberals really narrow it down by wanting to live near people who are the same race as them and share their political views.

People that have the same values/morals. That believe in "The do unto others" adage, keep their yards nice, don't cause disturbances, respect others property/quiet enjoyment.
I don't care what race, religion, if they ate
