200 Billion more in tariffs on China ratcheting up the tradewar. So far the only effect from the prior ones has been to increase the trade imbalance. But honestly, does anyone else think this is just more chaos to distract from Mueller? I think Trumps going for maximum distraction before attempting to fire him. I don't think its going to work. I feel like we're coming to the end. Could be wrong, but the flailing seems to be increasing.
When President Bill Clinton deliberated whether he should loosen trade barriers against China, Wall Street helped plead Beijing's case.
When Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama talked tough about labeling China as a currency manipulator, Wall Street urged restraint — and both presidents backed down.
Today, China is hoping that Wall Street will once again use its political heft to soothe tempers in Washington. But as President Trump ratchets up the trade war with Beijing, Wall Street's words are falling on deaf ears.
IMO Its extremely shortsighted to suggest Trump trade policy is being used as a distraction.
1)He campaigned on it and is now 1 3/4 into his term.
2) He has a plan despite what the TDS afflicted may say.
3) He just implemented phase 2 of the plan
4) "If China takes retaliatory action against our farmers or other industries, we will immediately pursue phase three, which is tariffs on approximately $267 billion of additional imports,"
5) China runs out of bullets to retaliate before we do. If "phase three" were to be implemented, on top of Monday's announced $200 billion in tariffs and the $50 billion already in place, all Chinese imports would be affected.
They can simply focus on American businesses operating in China as hardly any Chinese businesses operate in America. Will Michigan and Ohio be supportive of Trump if auto makers go bankrupt as a result? Or should they be bailed out again?

Show me a war that never had any casualties and I'll show you a picnic in Jellystone Park.

Generally we win the war and then rebuild.
So going to war against Michigan and Ohio is a good idea for Trump? I think its risky. One thing is for sure, you are not getting your job that you felt you lost back. There are far cheaper countries than China out there. If you are happy competing with Bangladesh instead of China, go ahead, but you are not "winning" by doing so. Trump is simply slapping massive taxes on the average American with his tariffs while giving massive tax breaks for the outsources and the corporate elites.

(Trump isn't intimidated by Wall St money )
Trade is a golden opportunity for Trump to stroke his own ego because he is not dependent on Congress for it. So he can use it just like going to war. To rally people around it. He has found matches in his room, and he'll use them like a little kid.

You won't win rolling over for Communist China period.

lol so you think you're winning if we import more stuff from communist Vietnam instead? We have a six to one trade deficit with Vietnam but only a three to one deficit with China. And there is zero interest in any trade war with Vietnam. You're getting played. It has nothing to do with communism. They wouldnt even trade with America if they were actually communist countries. This is simply Trump's way to satisfy his own narcissism as he can do what he wants without Congress. And that means big tax hikes on you and big tax breaks for the outsourcers and globalists.

TDS isn't winning either.
