Looks like the trade war has a couple of casualties already...

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-a...-idUSKBN1JG3BL

And:

Daimler AG slashed its earnings outlook for the year less than two months after providing an upbeat forecast, saying fewer Chinese consumers will buy Mercedes-Benz SUVs because of tariffs Beijing will place on imported U.S. autos. Earnings before interest and taxes will be slightly lower than last year, the German luxury-car maker said in a surprise statement late Wednesday. That compares with a previous guidance of slightly higher profit. The pullback positions Daimler as the first major car manufacturer to cut its earnings outlook because of an escalating global trade war.

Those Mercs are built in Alabama so it's funny to see 2 strong trump supporting regions are some of the first to feel the impact of his policy. Good for them.

Causalties?

Jobs are being created - it's a matter of how many.

Things are still fluid right now... conditions may be totally different 2 weeks from now...

I understand people have gotten used to giving away hundreds of billions of dollars - but if you want it fixed, things have to change.

So while Obama was President, Volvo decided to build a plant that would eventually provide 3,000 jobs. Then Trump comes in and although there still will be jobs, the number may be negatively impacted by tariffs imposed by the EU in retaliation to the USA taxes.

How much you want to bet Trump had no clue that there were plants being built in the USA to ship cars to outside the USA.

It's a gamble. A REAL gamble.

And the truth -- the US economy was doing fine with the status quo. Job growth for almost 8 years. Companies recording profits, etc.

There was no need to risk trade wars, price increases to make a point, to make people think you are putting America first.

We were not giving hundreds of billions of dollars away -- we just weren't. There is absolutely positively nothing to substantiate your claim,.

Good, it started at home with weak and ineffective past negotiators selling the American workers out for decades. Lets break some eggs and some eggheads to get to the omelet we can eat and have breakfast. More food on the table is "MAGA".
More beans and more peas and fewer peons.

I hope there are layoffs in those plants in Alabama as a result. That may sound harsh, but until these people are made to feel the effects of this buffoon they put in office, they will never get it. So, let's help them get there.

Talking Trade war coming home already

Gotta be fake news.

Because "trade wars are good and they're easy to win!"

Words of a stable genius.

I'm going to stop you right there, no injecting common sense, and logic into a Trump hating thread.

Yup, agreed, farmers are especially going to be hurt by this with agricultural product orders from China already down. Guess who will need to subsidize farmers to get them out of trouble? Us taxpayers, yay!

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices...-a8406476.html

Since farmers overwhelming voted for Trump, they are literally reaping what they sow.

So much winning!
