I don't see this playing well for the department.

Playing the Devils advocate the article states police ordered him to stop and not reach for the gun.

Same thing happened with Castile. He was ordered to stop moving.

So which will it be.
Argument 1. Police need training reform.
Argument 2. Only police should be armed.
Argument 3. Obey police commands and you won't get shot.
Or
Argument 4. Dude had no right to intervene in a fist fight and chose poorly in holster selection and for intervening in a fight that posed no threat to his well being.

Argument 5. All of the above let's watch everyone flip out.

Never said is was not...what's your point? 1 guy trying to break up fight, gun falls out, cops are there and he tries to pick up the gun....do you think the cops said anything? I'd argue he'd still be alive if he didn't try to intervene in a fight...
Unless he was hired by the bar as security... he had no business breaking up a fight. Unless a significant advantage was had or got carried away.

I'd also argue poor choice in holster.
I'd also argue if dude listened to police he'd not have been shot.
I'd also argue police are quick to shoot.
