Republican Senator Shelby is chairman of the Senate Appropriations committee.
Most of the Senators on this Russian junket are on the Senate Appropriations committee which has jurisdiction over all discretionary spending legislation in the Senate.
What business, pray tell, do members of the Senate Appropriations Committee have mucking around in foreign relations with Russia?
But then, what business do Russians have at the big-donor inauguration galas?
Follow the money
Choke off NATO, the UN, specific budgets like State Dept, funding for programs to help any countries that might be resisting Russia
Funding for Mueller???

You would expect lots of Russians at a Trump inauguration ball. After all, Trump has been colluding, conspiring, courting, cooperating and dealing with Russians more or less continuously since 2003. And that's just from the publicly available evidence and information.
When you vote for Trump you vote for Russian money and influence. It's a package deal, the two are inseparable.
Likely because Trump wasn't the only Republican benefiting from Russian money and meddling.
As soon as the Senate Intelligence report came out affirming Russian interference in the election, Republican Senators hot footed it over to Moscow to assure Putin to pay no attention to the report.
I think this is a good area to investigate. There were numerous wealthy Russians that attended Trump's inauguration, one where the wife posted all the details in Russian on social media.
NYT: Trump lawyers make new demands before a Mueller interview
Quote:
Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's legal team demanded that before the President agrees to an interview, the special counsel's team must prove it has evidence of Trump committing a crime and that it needs testimony from the President to conclude its probe, The New York Times reported Friday.
According to the Times, Trump's legal team set its new conditions on Friday with the special counsel team led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller. The demands mark further reason to believe the President will not submit voluntarily to an interview with the special counsel.
The Times account painted a picture of Trump's legal team as increasingly willing to combat the Mueller investigation while seeking to influence public opinion.

Rep and bump.
The friend of our enemy is our enemy.
Which makes it almost certain that Trump has something to hide. Otherwise, why not welcome the opportunity to clear things up with Mueller and explain himself?
One of those going was Kay Grainger--a congresswoman from my part of DFW--
The ONLY Congress member to go -- others were Senators
The local FTW paper has big headline referring to her critics complaining they never know where she is--off junketing much of the time
Grainger has been in office a long time--
She much think she has a lock on reelection but there are pockets of resistance growing in N TX I hope this trip is enough to rock her boat
These stalling tactics reek of desperation on the Trump team's part. The Cult may accept them as proof that their tarnished hero is being victimized - but it seems unlikely anyone with any understanding of how democracy (or rather, a democratic republic) is supposed to work would be so gullible as to fail to see this for exactly what it is.
