We were at Starbucks and homeless people walked in and asked for a refill, free water and used the toilets. Needless to say, that particular Starbucks was less busy and employees told each homeless person that they could not keep providing the stuff and usage of toilets.
The entire point was for Howard Schultz to have an excuse to divert significant funding to the ADL (who he just had to keep on he payroll even after public outrage over their support of Zionism and thus their inappropriate participation caused Starbucks to move them to an oversight rather than facilitation role).
Coffee affectionados detest the "burned" coffee, and there are so many other choices.
Yes, Starbucks has to do something, and quick. Their downfall if it happens will be studied as a counter-example of why not engage your base. Starbucks went from selling coffee to customers to developing brand loyalty by connecting employees and customers along a common interest. Seems the company never extrapolated a worst case scenario.
Determining that your customers and baristas trended left and then try to connect to both using social justice issues would have been a genius move - employees and customers would connect. The whole things would build a loyal base. But what happens when the issues go awry?
Personally I like Starbucks ,not for the coffee but for the personal acknowledgment I get when stepping into the store much like cheers and "Norm" . I frequent 2 different ones mainly.
there are others I frequent as well they all know me and what I like . How many places do you go where literally thousands of people gather and you out of all them are recognized ?
My regular drink has been green tea and lemonade , and some times it's made before the cashier has had a chance to ring me up .
I also enjoy the wifi and spend hours there drawing and working my research on my laptop.
Some times too I meet people that just come to talk and get out of the heat ,other are there doing business meeting client's .
May be where you are they are not so friendly, but here they are, and yes there are homeless here as well but for the most part they behave them selves .
There are cops and security that frequent these shops often so I think that's why they have so few problems.
