https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/07/0...t-ghettos.html

Starting at the age of 1, “ghetto children” must be separated from their families for at least 25 hours a week, not including nap time, for mandatory instruction in “Danish values,” including the traditions of Christmas and Easter, and Danish language. Noncompliance could result in a stoppage of welfare payments. Other Danish citizens are free to choose whether to enroll children in preschool up to the age of six.

Denmark’s government is introducing a new set of laws to regulate life in 25 low-income and heavily Muslim enclaves, saying that if families there do not willingly merge into the country’s mainstream, they should be compelled.

...
To those claiming the measures single out Muslims, he said: “That’s nonsense and rubbish. To me this is about, no matter who lives in these areas and who they believe in, they have to profess to the values required to have a good life in Denmark.”

Oh boy, this is going to put the Leftists in a conundrum. They LOVE Denmark and hold it as a beacon of light that all humanity should follow.

I wonder how this will effect their much celebrated ranking on the "freedom index"?

One year olds are too young, but I would support this from pre-school onward. I also wouldn’t mind if one year olds could be accompanied by older family members. Seems to me all you will have is a room full of screaming one, two, and three year olds crying for their parents.

Maybe not one year old, but certainly at the age of two when the baby is able to start speaking. Those children NEED to be able to speak Danish fluently in order to best take advantage of the Danish school system.

And I believe the Swedish government is following suit. It's not fair that the Swedish people are all well educated and with decent paying jobs AND paying up to 65% of their income to taxes. They cannot afford to support uneducated foreign refugees who get the government benefits but don't pay as much into their system.

Denmark and Sweden, and Norway are great countries and generous in spirit... so why wouldn't they (and others) want their winning countries to maintain their traditional values and lifestyles? Why would they want to support these small pockets of Muslim immigrants as mini versions of their broken countries?

It sounds like they are still embracing the immigrants but giving the kids the JOB of learning how to integrate into Danish society. The kids learn and hopefully come home to teach their parents.

This is not mean at all but what it is doing is ensuring the future of Denmark.

It would be nice if we could do that here in the states but the push back from the Left would be huge!

The Trump admin should have been smarter and told us that the border kids are away from their parents to learn about the customs, traditions and history of America so they can be reunited with them at a future date to help ease their transition into our culture....
