A Washington state sheriff’s office said one of its deputies was “released from employment” this week. The decision reportedly came after she was allegedly seen in a photo wearing a shirt with a logo tied to a far-right-leaning organization, which itself has alleged connections to white nationalist rhetoric.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday in a news release that Deputy Erin Willey was fired Tuesday, after more than a year on the force, amid the results of an internal investigation.
We have some strange law enforcement policies in this state. If you're a cop you can kiss a teen 'explorer' (kind of volunteer underage cadet); you can stomp on a suspect while yelling racial slurs; you can submit phony diploma mill degrees to qualify for a raise; you can shoot a deaf, drunk Indian wood carver who's walking away from you, holding a small pocket knife; you can get scads of DUIs....and you won't get fired.
Just don't get caught with a 'proud boys' (never heard of them before, btw) t-shirt.
Well, I can see why they have a problem with the shirt.
"The Proud Boys have adopted a black Fred Perry polo shirt with yellow piping as their unofficial uniform.[18] Fred Perry was previously associated with the Mod subculture and skinhead groups..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proud_Boys

I don't actually have a problem with them terminating someone who belongs to a white supremacist group, if that is really the case here. Hopefully the same would apply to a black supremacist group (e.g. Farrakhan-affiliated) or a Mexican-supremacist group (La Raza).
I also just find it strange that a Seattle cop can stomp a suspect (later found innocent) while yelling a racist slur, and not be fired, but this one is fired over a Fred Perry polo shirt with yellow piping.
I had never heard of the 'proud boys' before this. The wiki page posted by Seacove does not really give any evidence of them being white supremacist. It says their motto is "I am a Western chauvinist who refuses to apologize for creating the modern world." And that they discourage masturbation and use of porn.
This goes to show the inherent problem of the left's ubiquitous "call them racist" tactic. When something like this comes up there are immediate doubts as to whether the accusation is real, or just another phony cry of "wolf."

The problem is that racism is still widespread...not with the people who allege that it us. And many on the right...especially the far right...almost never call racists out. In fact accusing others of "playing the cace" card seems to their automatic response to any allegation of racism.

The motto you cited makes it very plain that this is a racist group.
Yep. Even though government is not suppose to come down on the people over a 1st amendment issue, the SC has ruled government can come down on government employees, even on their own time and in their private lives, but not elected officials, over things they say(signs, flags, slogan T-shirts) Because, they are suppose to be neutral on many things, even the beer they drink.
