The article says, among other things, that cocaine makes negroes impervious to gunshot wounds, increases their courage and "homicidal tendencies." It even is said to induce "temporary steadying of the nervous and muscular system, so as to increase, rather than interfere with, good marksmanship."
This article does not mention it, but of course there were rampant fears among white progressives at the time about white women being deflowered by the "Negro cocaine fiends."
All of this was the major impetus in passing the Harrison Act of 1914, which began the federal War on Drugs.
Don't forget the New York Times thought the murder of 10 million people was NOT news. Well, after all they were just of slavic (and therefore white) origin, being killed by people with SINCERE left-wing beliefs.

This stuff isn't just racist, it is sociopathically racist. I have never heard such things said about ANY race in my life, much less by educated people. They are evil.
It's bad. But if you haven't heard such things said about other races, you're living under a rock.
I read that the NYT is saying that she realizes she shouldn't have tweeted those things and has learned from the experience. I say big deal. She now knows not to tweet such hateful racist stuff, but that doesn't change the fact that she hates white men and wants whites in general to disappear. The NYT is knowingly putting an avowed intolerant racist into a position of power. That says all we need to know about the NYT.
And here we have the world view of the liberal left. Merely by being an Asian woman -- or, let's be honest, by being anything other than a white male -- she is therefore automatically the subject of frequent online harassment. Must be a miserable existence, to always think that everyone is out to get you because of your race and/or your gender. I guess lashing out at the white male bogeyman is how these people cope with their own feelings of inadequacy.
It's how they organize their politics. Democrats have become a coalition of the fringes lead by an ivory tower elite. Problem is, the components of this coalition have almost nothing in common. There is literally no other way to unite and excite this group except in opposition to a white male enemy. So that enemy must continually be promoted and the rhetoric becomes ever more extreme, now to the point that the NYT editorial board includes someone like Jeong.
the official statement from the NYtimes said management had reviewed jeong's anti-white, anti-republican, anti-police, anti-male social media history prior to being hired and they chose to hire her. the paper has made it very clear that she is welcomed as a representative of the editorial board of the nytimes. Not a surprise to me at all.
The NYT editorial board would no doubt like to thank the OP for the free publicity.
