So having every major media outlet be liberal slanted and be able to print whatever they like without any sort of fear is somehow an “assault on the press”. Hilarious.

oh boo hoo for the press. if they would stop with the bull crap and do their jobs right, and actually inestigate things, instead of just print rumors and garbage, then perhaps they might get more respect.
Who are you to tell the press how to do their jobs ? These people are just like the rest of us, they go to work and try to do the best job they can, as honestly as they can. You may not like what they are reporting because they are staying on Trump like white on rice, but what they do is probably one of the most important jobs that keep our country fair and honest.
The first thing any Dictator does is shut down the presses, but I can tell you, that is never going to happen here in America, regardless of how much your esteemed leader would love to see them go away.

Wrong, President Obama regularly lashed out at conservative media outlets like Fox News during his presidency. He showed very little respect for conservative Americans.
I wish all politicians stopped playing the "press is bad" card no matter which side they're on. I think we all would agree the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania says far more harsh things about the press than previous presidents including Richard Nixon. In my mind, there is no comparison.
This should be disturbing to all Americans - assuming that you understand that a free press is a bedrock foundational element of a democracy.

In the last few years, Trump has been joined by at least two billionaires who are determined to exploit cracks in the wall of defense around the press... They have sued or funded suits to defend reputations or protect privacy. But an underlying aim appears to be to punish critics...or even destroy entire media outlets.
This mistrust has been growing for a long time, but it was stoked by Trump during the campaign. He called the reporters who covered him “scum” and whipped up yelling and booing crowds.
The Mainstream "free press" is peopled entirely by biased liberal extremists and cannot be trusted to report on the weather.
