We are about two years into the national anthem debate and especially after it was turned into a weapon to divide us, I have to ask a critical question that to my recollection has not been answered once by anyone when I bring it up. That being: Why do we attack the players who kneel during a game but yet refuse to attack other fans who do not abide by the traditions of standing for the anthem if they are able-bodied? To me it is the same thing. I've seen this disrespect as a fan dating back as far as 2004 but nobody talks about it but athletes do it and every one loses their damn minds about it. So I ask, what's the difference?

Default Fox News apologizes after getting slammed for airing misleading images of Philadelphia Eagles players kneeling

Remember this chestnut?

Fox Sports will no longer air coverage of the national anthem before its NFL games.
ESPN will no longer air coverage of the national anthem before its Monday Night Football games.

Stail waiting on the networks to follow suit.

Problem solved.

I still say they ought to play the Anthem at the end of the game and fine everyone who leaves early.

Again, this has nothing to do with the anthem sitting fans who seemingly get a pass while a player gets vilified for doing it.

The problem here is people are supposed to stop in reverence of the anthem. I know from working at a stadium, people only stop due to traffic, lines or the anthem. The only reason why an anthem should play at the end of a game is if one country plays another and the winner's is played like Gold Medal Olympic matches.

If there is a personnel policy put in place that requires players to be present and stand for the national anthem, they must abide.

Fans don't get vilified for it because they are not role models and they are not employees.

I often wondered the same thing. Some of the same folks who complain about the players think nothing of going to the concession stand during the anthem. #hypocrites

The players aren't forced to be a part of the anthem. For years the NFL had the anthem before the teams took the field. Then that changed but it isn't even a real policy that forces players to one bee on the field and two be standing for the anthem.

As for the difference you mentioned, why does that make any difference? An able-bodied fan should get vilified and shamed for sitting if we are going vilify players. It is intellectually dishonest not to.

I agree, but this is how the complainers feel. It's illogical.
