Most people think global warming is all bad news, but it's not. There are lots of positives. Expanded global tree cover is one of them.
------------
Global tree canopy cover increased by 2.24 million square kilometers (865,000 square miles) between 1982 and 2016, reports a new study in Nature.

Researchers using satellite data tracked the changes in various land covers to find that gains in forest area in the temperate, subtropical, and boreal climatic zones are offsetting declines in the tropics. In addition, forest area is expanding even as areas of bare ground and short vegetation are shrinking. Furthermore, forests in montane regions are expanding as climate warming enables trees to grow higher up on mountains.

Tree canopy in Europe, including European Russia, has increased by 35 percent—the greatest gain among all continents. The researchers attribute much of that increase to the "natural afforestation on abandoned agricultural land," which has been "a common process in Eastern Europe after the collapse of the Soviet Union."

I'll take good news whenever we can get it. However, the article doesn't say anything about global warming. The increase in forests is just the result of trees growing back where they were previously clear cut. One reason is probably that our farmers are so incredibly productive today compared to the past, they can produce the same amount of food on less land and thus the abandoned fields revert to forest.

I would not agree with the closing statement of the article:

"Expanding woodlands suggests that humanity has begun the process of withdrawing from the natural world which in turn will provide greater scope for other species to rebound and thrive." Learning to live with the natural world is more likely than, and much preferable to, withdrawing from it.

What global warming?

There is no such thing as global warming. It’s a hoax to justify a globalist collectivist socialist agenda.

In the same way it's good that you found a big stash of water and stay hydrated but eventually too much of it at once will kill you. Co2 is great for plants but too much can cause them damage aswell.

So the boreal areas get more trees while the tropical and equatrorial zones will become uninhabitable to humans due to excessive high temperatures. And you guys think we have a problem with immigration NOW....

Increased global temperatures will greatly deplete the forests. Droughts will kill many trees. Insect pests that kill trees will expand and move further toward the poles. The same with types of deadly fungus and molds. Wildfires will burn more forest land, as we have seen over recent years. Your suggestion that warming will benefit the forests, is nothing but folly.

Oh my, who to believe?

Our Planet Lost 40 Football Fields of Tree Cover Every Single Minute in 2017. This jump was caused by widespread fires rather than deforestation, which still manage to do a thorough job of reducing biodiversity and biomass storage.
