A Mexican official told CNBC on Monday that trade talks with the U.S. have wrapped up, adding that an announcement could come later in the day. Officials were in Washington trying to hammer out the details as the Trump administration pushes to remake the 1994 agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. There was some hope that a new NAFTA could be solidified before Mexico's government turnover on December 1.
Trump has been condemned mightily by his critics for these tariffs. It seemed no one was willing to take a wait and see position, or to give the president a chance to negotiate. Now we see that his very aggressive rhetoric and unorthodox style was just the way he negotiates.
Will Trump's critics temper their rhetoric now, and give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he is doing, and is following a plan? Or will they stick to hating him, and condemning everything he does, even if they are actively working against America's interests?
It's a better deal for MX than they had hoped for. trump whined and whined that it ABSOLUTELY had to have a Sunset Clause in 5 years. Guess what...no such clause in the deal. Winning!
And so far only 2 sided. Canada out of talks for past 3 weeks. Definitely not a done deal.
Depends on the details. Also, there's 1/3 of NAFTA that hasn't come to agreement yet.
The will have no choice but to do so, it's only a matter of time. Canada waited too long, and now they are at a distinct disadvantage with Mexico and the US.

Doesn't it matter what the details of the detail are?
Call me crazy but I think that is significant information we need before we declare a victory.
That and the deal actually signed. We've been told a few times a deal was close to be signed.
It will be interesting to see if this new accord with Mexico differs in any material way with the updated agreement Obama hammered out with Mexico, as part and parcel of the Trans-Pacific agreement.
What seems likely to me ... There will be a few relatively minor changes, but Trump will call it "winning" even though it's basically the same thing as before.
I’m going to take a wait and see approach as I definitely cant believe anything Trump says. He declared victory with North Korea and we see how that turned out.
As U.S. media reports of a NAFTA breakthrough circulated Monday, Mexico's economy minister, Ildefonso Guajardo, told reporters on his way into his fifth week of bilateral meetings with the Americans that he still had to conclude a "very important" issue.
The Canadian government continues to be encouraged that progress is being made, according to a source speaking to CBC News on background.
Once a U.S.–Mexico agreement is reached, Canada is expected to rejoin the negotiation.

Are you serious? They are committed to hating him no matter what. Despite the fact that any concessions are better than where we were before, Trump haters will characterize the new agreement as a total failure on the part of Trump, highlighting all the areas where he didn't get exactly what he wanted and backed off initial demands.
