Not really. In a "single payer system" do you have the liberty to decide whether you want to be involved with it or not? No. And neither did a serf have much say in his/her future. Quite similar.

Also, the idea of "single payer" (government funded collective risk pool scheme) is a de-privatized insurance service. Either way, the responsibility for one's actions is relieved from the individual and placed on society in general (or, the collective). You want to live a destructive lifestyle? No problem. When your body blows up, society will fix you. You want to engage in high-risk activity? No problem. Jump off a cliff if you like. If you survive, society will foot the bill for mending your body. Insurance in general (including single payer) is a free ticket to stupid behavior without ever having to face any consequences. Generally speaking, that's the main reason collectivism is such an evil construct. It excuses stupidity.

It’s not the employer’s responsibility to be mommy and daddy and make sure all the employees needs are met. Sometimes the employee needs to get another job or have a side gig etc . Get roommates etc .

Why should they pay more than market value for labor simply because the heirs of the company are billionaires?

The “fair wage “ is the one both employee and employer agree to and we have that already .
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I was just responding to someone's comment about not wanting the government paying 'em to which the stories show they already are. <shrug> It is also interesting to see how people like Newsom and Brown are so hypocritical. They cry and moan about the poor but suck up big time to those that keep the poor, well, poor just as long as the donor $$$$$$$ keep flowing in...

No, it's liberal judges that rule that way. If CA is sane, they'd write in a provision that someone needs to provide proof of CA residency. Yes, the Far-Left groups will challenge it in the courts but hopefully they can word it a way to make it bulletproof.

I probably misread your post , yeah that’s the thing . They tell the peasants one thing then behind closed doors they do these backroom deals with donors . It’s ridiculous how much developer money some of them are getting .
It’s good to build and develop but it’s clear a lot of these projects are approved due to the donations and relationships they have with the developers and big business .
