He did speak at her funeral and apparently they had some sort of friendship.

True, unless the dad is an abusive jerk, or the parents hate each other. But I was raised by a single mother and I definitely think it’s a disadvantage to a degree. My mom got divorced when women couldn’t even get credit in their own names and the job market was extremely limited, especially for a woman who never went to college. But she always made sure we were independent and never had to rely on anyone else. And I think my sister and I turned out pretty well. Neither of us are criminals or slackers at least.

Conservatives love when a black person paints all black people in a negative light. Why is that?

Great perspective. Honesty. That's how we create positive change. And, yes, while there's a lot of sensitivity involved, WE ALL as a society need to work on improving ourselves.

Aretha Franklin was way beyond a superstar. There are maybe only a small handful that even start to come close. My only disappointment with her memorial service was that Louis Farrakhan was prominently featured.

Not true. It is positive to hear the truth spoken by Black leaders about their own community. One that typically blames everyone else for their troubles. Just like Hillary for losing the election. It is everyone else's fault!

He probably says something similar in church every Sunday morning.

I got no problem with Minister Farrakhan or him being there. Used to watch him all the time when we were in St Louis. He never said anything that offended me. But then, neither did Jeremiah Wright.

Why is it that liberals don't like it when black leaders tell the honest truth about their own community instead of sugar coating it?

There's also a wealth of opinions on how NFL players should protest. We don't want them to kneel before a game or to take it on Twitter and we certainly don't want them holding up signs on the streets. The horror.

So now people who were not at Aretha Franklin's memorial service suddenly feel they can tell her family and supporters how to mourn the dead. SMH
It’s called people expressing an OPINION. As much as so many liberals and minorities hate the idea, white people actually have the same rights to express themselves as black people do. As much as so many liberals and minorities hate the idea, some blacks have their own thoughts and don’t follow the herd.

Ain’t freedom great?

That said, of course some will get upset at the message, because it's the painful truth.

I can't stand guys like this, that blame black people for the evil this country has done to us. All those beautiful black towns and communities he's talking about, were burnt to the ground by white mobs. Our government never even tried to reimburse the people for their losses, and they had to start over every time. Oh, but it's black people fault we are where we are. If this man don't go sit down somewhere. These guys are our pastors? What a joke.

Then they allowed Bill Clinton to sit on stage. That guy shouldn't have been within a hundred miles of the building. His crime bill have put so many black men in prison, yet this dude talks about single mothers and where are the fathers at? They are in prison!!! No thanks to the man who is sitting by your side. Yet he gets on stage and blame black people.

I said in another thread, as soon as I saw Billy boy on stage, I turned the service off.
