I'm enjoying watching the Trump haters in this thread desperately trying to spin this as Trump losing. LoL

There's this also.

China says its economy is slowing.

Over the weekend, a private survey showed growth in China's factory sector stalled after 15 months of expansion, with export orders falling the fastest in over two years. An official survey also confirmed a further weakening in the manufacturing sector.

Beijing will likely take steps to mitigate the impact of the trade war with the U.S. as recent economic indicators from China point to a slowdown, an economist said on Monday.

China wouldn't have lowered their tariffs on American goods, unless we forced them by raising our tariffs. So we did raise ours. And China said, "Well, OK, I guess you're serious, we'll lower ours now." Look forward to his lowering our tariffs on Chinese goods now, specially the ones he recently raised.

In other words, Trump's policy worked, where Obama's never did.

And leftists (in and out of the media, and in both parties) who said President Trump was wrong, stupid, callous, etc. etc. have been proven flat wrong again.
Hang on -- - the article states that China is lowering tariffs on goods -- that's not just AMERICAN goods......and the last paragraph of the article suggests that the lowering of tariffs is in preparation for the trade ware with the USA......so I don't know if everything is fixed yet. Not sure because this article is not specific enough.

I don't think this means Trump lost -- but I'm not sure what specifically has been gained....yet.

Lots of guessing.....

What's even more enjoyable is watching the Trumplings being sucked, completely obliviously, into becoming globalists.

Yeah so far none of the deals are HUGE gains are revisions to trade deals.

Nothing so far seems to drastically change anything. Each country gave a little to gain a little -- but it doesn't seem there will be any significant changes to any trade.

Yes, because renegotiating NAFTA (USMCA) to rely on more North American production, is being sucked into globalism.

And that "North American production" includes production in Mexico.

Yes, Trump also wants Canada to increase its production, and depend less on China. This benefits all three nations economically, as well as from a national security standpoint.

If you're telling us you're willing to let Mexico get more production at (hopefully) the expense of China, why not just advocate no tariffs at all with them?

Keep in mind this would have little effect on US jobs, because all it will do is transfer some jobs from China to Mexico.

The flaw in NAFTA was that it allowed Mexico, and Canada to import foreign products/materials, and then roll them across the US border tariff free.

The new deal will allow the US to control how much product, and materials produced outside North America can roll across the border into the US. This encourages both Canada, and Mexico to produce the products, and materials themselves. Part of the deal is to also require that steps are taken to level pay scales discrepancies to help even out productions costs between the three countries.

I think the overall goals of the new deal seem quite good, but of course the devil is in the details, so we'll see how it works out in the long term.
