This sort of thing gets proven fake all too often for people to pay attention to it anymore. More often than not it's some waitress trying to drum up some cash through social media by making a fake claim, it sucks but it's happened enough that people doubt these claims.

Customer was being racist and was trying to cause a rucus. I have seen some of these garbage people in my local shopping area. It is like people are becoming racist archie Bunkers trying to cause problems and feels it is normal.
There's at least a 50% chance its a hoax, I'd say closer to 80%. But so many diners are total knuckle draggers that anything is possible. Tales from your server/ Reddit has horror stories about people that dine and dash, don't tip and act like cretins to try to get their meals comped. If it is a hoax, the server should face criminal charges.
